UA chosen to host NCAA events

The University of Arkansas has been selected to host four NCAA postseason championsh­ips.

Arkansas will host the 2014 and 2016 NCAA men’s and women’s cross country regionals, the 2015 NCAA men’s and women’s indoor track and field championsh­ips, and a 2017 NCAA gymnastics regional.

Arkansas will host the 2014 NCAA cross country regionals Nov. 14, 2014, at the Agri Park course, and the 2016 regionals also will be held there Nov. 11, 2016.

The school will host the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championsh­ips at Randal Tyson Track Center on March 13-14, 2015, marking the 12th time the event has been held in Fayettevil­le.

Arkansas will host an NCAA gymnastics regional for the fifth time in its history when it’s held April 1, 2017, in Barnhill Arena. The venue is also hosting a 2014 NCAA regional April 5, 2014.

Arkansas has hosted 81 SEC, regional and national competitio­ns since the Razorbacks entered the SEC in 1992, including 26 over the past five years.

“Hosting championsh­ip events at the University of Arkansas is a source of pride for our program and for our university,” Arkansas Athletic Director Jeff Long said. “It also provides our student-athletes the opportunit­y to compete for conference, regional and national championsh­ips in front of the Razorback fans at some of the nation’s top competitio­n venues.”
