Cellist Gates, 6 UA faculty play chamber music festival
Fayetteville public radio station KUAF-FM, 91.3, and the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville music department will offer three concerts as part of the seventh annual KUAF/Fulbright Summer Chamber Music Festival, Thursday-June 5. 7 p.m. June 5, Great Hall, Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art, 600 Museum Way, Bentonville. String Quartet No. 5 by Philip Glass; String Quartet “Front to Back” by Ryan Cockerham, in honor of the career and retirement of Stephen Gates, former principal cellist of the North Arkansas Symphony, a UA faculty member and former music department chairman and organizer of the chamber music festival.
Performers include Gates and UA music faculty members Paulo Eskitch, viola; ErGene Kahng, violin; Tomoko Kashiwagi and Miroslava Panayotova, piano; Ronda Mains, flute; and Michael Montgomery, bass.

Architecture panel
Two architects and a historian will discuss “The Ed Cromwell Legacy,” focusing on the late architect’s career and his impact on Little Rock and its surroundings, at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Arkansas Arts Center in MacArthur Park, East Ninth and Commerce streets, Little Rock.
Chris East will moderate; the panel will be Charles Penix, chief operating officer of Cromwell Architects and Engineers; Bill Worthen, director of the Historic Arkansas Museum; and architect Don Evans, an associate of Cromwell.
Cromwell’s vision of a planned community on 5,000 acres owned by Jess P. Odom, an Arkansas businessman and insurance executive, resulted in the creation of Maumelle. Cromwell is also credited with saving the Capital Hotel from the wrecking ball.
The event is part of a series of lectures under the aegis of the Architecture and Design Network, which encompasses the Arts Center, the University of Arkansas Fay Jones School of Architecture and the Central Arkansas Section of the Arkansas chapter of the American Institute of Architects. Bluegrass Monday
The Darrell Webb Band will perform for radio station KASU-FM, 91.9’s Bluegrass Monday concert at 7 p.m. Monday at the Collins Theatre, 120 W. Emerson St., Paragould.
