Counting cave fish
Brian Wagner (photo above) with the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission dons protective gear Tuesday before helping count endangered Ozark cave fish at Cave Springs Cave near downtown Cave Springs. Teams of experienced cavers explored the water-filled cave and tallied the fish they saw during the count that takes place every two years. Mike Slay with The Nature Conservancy, one of the team members, said there are about 140 of the endangered fish in the cave, more than any other cave where the fish are found.
