Back Pain Therapy Creator Visits Area Clinic

-

Arno Parviainen, inventor and professor from Finland, visited Northwest Arkansas Neurosurgery Clinic recently to observe the physical therapy team there using one of his creations – David Spine concept equipment – to ease patients’ back pain.

When Northwest Arkansas Neurosurgery Clinic opened last fall at its new location, 3561 Johnson Mill Blvd., its Total Spine therapy and rehabilitation area was outfitted with specialized equipment from David Health Solutions, the world leader in rehabilitation concepts for musculoskeletal conditions. Parviainen founded David Health Solutions in 1981 and serves as its CEO today.

Northwest Arkansas Neurosurgery Clinic is the exclusive area provider of David Spine concepts, which are used in more than 30 countries and have helped nearly a million patients worldwide nd relief from chronic and recurrent back pain, said the clinic’s medical director Luke Knox, M.D., who practiced neurosurgery for more than 30 years but now devotes his practice exclusively to non-surgical, conservative spine care. “Historically the only avenue available to me for the treatment of back pain was surgery,” Dr. Knox said. “But now, by managing these problems through a series of postural alteration, strengthening, gravity traction and spinal balance, often our patients can avoid surgery altogether. Our team has developed a complex system of rehabilitative measures, with the David Spine concept being central to achieving those goals.”

Back pain is one of the most common medical problems in the U.S., according to the National Institutes of Health, and affects 8 out of 10 people at some point during their lives.
