PREP SOFTBALL

GRAVETTE 4, SPRINGDALE HAR-BER 3

The Lions scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to edge Har-Ber in the season-opener for both teams Monday. Gravette (1-0) took an early 2-0 lead, but HarBer (0-1) rallied for three runs in the top of the fifth inning to take a 3-2 lead.

The Lions banged out seven hits, led by Sumer Kaba, who homered, doubled and had 2 RBIs. Robin Davis was 2-for-3, and Emily Ellis and Cally Kildow each had a double. Claire Collier doubled and had 2 RBIs for Har-Berm and Honestly Holt was 2-for-3.

Kildow earned the win in the circle, pitching a complete game with 15 strikeouts. Cearra McPherson took the loss for Har-Ber.

PREP BASEBALL

BENTONVILL­E WEST 4, PRAIRIE GROVE 3 The Wolverines held off Prairie Grove to win their benefit game Monday.

West led 4-0, but allowed three Prairie Grove runs in the bottom of the seventh inning. The Wolverines banged out 12 hits, led by Jason Gloeckler, who was 3-for-4. Zach Trammell was was 2-for-4 and Jaron Jenkins was 2-for-2. Marlin Keller was 2-for-3.

Ten West pitchers combined to give up just 3 hits with 12 strikeouts.
