2 small businesses win Sam’s Club prize

Two Arkansas companies were recently named 2017 American Small Business Champions by Sam’s Club and SCORE, a nonprofit organizati­on that supports small businesses.

IDK? Cafe, which is based in Northwest Arkansas, and Stat-Medicament­Disposal Corp. of Siloam Springs were among

102 companies selected as champions and will receive a $1,000 Sam’s Club gift card, a trip to a training and networking event, and mentoring from experts.

IDK? Cafe is a catering and restaurant business that uses locally sourced ingredient­s. The business also supplies seven Head Start centers in the community with healthy meals and is working to expand its school lunch program.

Stat-Medicament-Disposal Corp. provides inhome disposal bottles for medication­s and vitamins aimed at keeping them out of the water supply.

The Arkansas companies are now eligible to be selected as one of three grand champions of the competitio­n later this year. Grand champions will receive a $25,000 prize.
