PREP BASEBALL HUNTSVILLE 5, PROVIDENCE ACADEMY 2

The Eagles (14-3-1, 6-0 4A1) scored two runs in the first inning and never trailed again.

Tad Jones allowed 2 runs on 6 hits over 5 innings to pick up the win and Vanover struck out five while shutting out the Patriots over the final two innings.

Kent Mayes had 2 RBIs and JD Vaughn scored 2 runs for Huntsville, which was limited to five hits by four different Providence pitchers.

Asher Cameron was 2-for-3 with a triple, run and RBI for the Patriots.

PREP SOFTBALL FARMINGTON 8, HARRISON 1

The Lady Cardinals (13-6, 6-0 5A-West) scored in all but one inning to remain perfect in conference play.

Paige Devecsery (8-2) tossed a complete-game four-hitter to pick up the win. The junior right-hander struck out 9 and walked 1 by throwing 18 of 25 first-pitch strikes. Madison Parrish drove in three runs while Carley Antwine and Anna Bennett had two hits and two runs apiece to pace Farmington’s offense.

GENTRY 15, GREENLAND 0 (3 INNS.)

Alyssa Kelton drove in four runs and pitched a one-hit shutout to lift the Lady Pioneers (6-8) over the Lady Pirates (0-8).

Highlighti­ng Gentry’s 14-hit attack was a two-run homer by Taylor Hull and triples by Alexis Droddy, Brooke Boston and Maddy Owens.
