Springdale plans street closings for marathon

SPRINGDALE — The city plans to close the following streets Saturday morning to accommodat­e the 41st Hogeye Marathon, which moved this year from Fayettevil­le to Springdale.

The route will run through Springdale’s five major parks, a portion of the Lake Fayettevil­le Trail, a portion of the Razorback Greenway and parts of Johnson and Fayettevil­le, according to the race website.

Runners will begin on Emma Street at 7 a.m. Saturday. Emma, from Shiloh to the railroad tracks, will be closed until 1:30 p.m.

Other road closings posted on hogeyemara­thon.com are:

■ Emma Avenue to Old Missouri Road from 6:30 to 7:30 a.m.

■ Northbound, Johnson Road from Johnson Mill Boulevard to Don Tyson Parkway, until 10 a.m.

■ Elmore Street from Main Street to Johnson Road until 10 a.m.

■ Hewitt Street from Main Street to Elmore Street until 10:15 a.m.

■ Watkins Avenue from 56th Street to 48th Street until 11:15 a.m.

■ Chapman Avenue from 40th Street to Carley Road until 11:45 a.m.

■ Chapman Street from Carley Road to Johnson Road until 11:45 a.m.

■ Spring Street, between Emma Avenue and Johnson Road, until 10 a.m.

■ Holcomb Street between Meadow Avenue and Emma Avenue until 1:45 p.m.

Johnson Avenue from Shiloh Street to Spring Street and Meadow Avenue from Main Street to Commercial Street will have limited access until runners have cleared.
