Mount Sequoyah Assembly in Fayettevil­le,

150 N. Skyline Drive, hosts its 94th annual Easter sunrise service at 6:30 a.m. April 16 at Vesper Point outdoor chapel. The Rev. Carl Palmer, associate pastor of Central United Methodist Church in Fayettevil­le, will deliver the message. Rebecca McBride and Arkoustic provide worship music. In case of bad weather, the service moves inside the Clapp Auditorium.

Mount Sequoyah will turn off the lights at the cross overlook beginning at 6 p.m. Friday, to mark Good Friday. The cross will be relighted early Easter morning for the sunrise service.

Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Fayettevil­le, 2925 N. Old Missouri Road, offers a Maundy Thursday service at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, a Good Friday service at 6:30 p.m. Friday and an Easter vigil at 6:30 p.m. April 15.

St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Fayettevil­le, 224 N. East Ave., has two events planned in response to the state of Arkansas’ plan to execute eight men in 10 days. Participan­ts in the recent “Prison Stories from Death Row” will offer their reflection­s and memories of the inmates they met during the project — three of whom are scheduled for execution — at 7 p.m. today in “Listening Through Their Silence.” The church also hosts a “Stations of the Cross Against the Death Penalty,” using liturgy that responds to the death penalty and art by a man currently on death row, at 4 p.m. Sunday.

Central United Methodist Church in Fayettevil­le, 6 W. Dickson St., presents The Seven Last Words of Christ by Theodore DuBois at 7 p.m. Thursday in observance of Maundy Thursday. First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Fayettevil­le, 1755 E. Rolling Hills Dr., presents Chet Manchester speaking on “Infinite Possibilit­ies for Healing” at

Manchester is a New York-based Christian Science lecturer who works to help people find spiritual solutions to their problems through prayer. His onehour talk is based on the book Science and Health With Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy, founder of Christian Science.

First United Methodist Church in Rogers, 307 W. Elm St., presents The Seven Last Words of Christ by Franz Joseph Haydin in observance of Good Friday at 7 p.m. Friday in the sanctuary. The musical presentati­on will feature string faculty from the University of Arkansas and projected photograph­s of early 20th-century American artist F. Holland Day. The church’s Stephen Ministers, a caring ministry of lay people, will offer reflection­s on each of the seven “words.”

The church sponsors a community Easter egg hunt from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. April 15. Bethany Kasper, Miss Arkansas River, will cut the ribbon to begin the hunt, and the Easter story will be shared in the chapel.

Two services are planned for Palm Sunday, 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. Sunday, beginning with the Liturgy of the Palms in the columbariu­m garden and a procession with palms to the church.

The church celebrates Maundy Thursday with a service at 6 p.m. Thursday. The service includes communion, foot washing and stripping the altar in preparatio­n for the solemn Good Friday liturgy.

The church marks Good Friday with the Veneration of the Cross and Holy Communion from the Reserved Sacrament with services at noon and 6 p.m. Friday.

The church gives away “Balancing Eagles,” which tie into the Easter story, during an Easter egg hunt at 4 p.m. April 15.

The church plans dinner and a movie at 5:30 p.m. April 19 for parents and children age 3 to sixth grade.

Motorcycle enthusiast­s have a new opportunit­y through the “Sonday Riders,” which meets at 2 p.m. the second and fourth Sunday of each month (weather permitting).

The Shepherd’s Food Pantry is open from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Friday. The pantry needs donations of toilet paper, paper towels, facial tissues and $5 coupons for Dollar General.

The Presbyteri­an Church of Bella Vista, 1880 Forest Hills Blvd., continues its Lenten study at 2 p.m. Thursday, with the church pastors leading the study of Aging Matters: Finding Your Calling for the Rest of Your Life by R. Paul Stevens.

The church plans Holy Week services, including a Palm Sunday worship at 10 a.m. Sunday; Maundy Thursday service at 7 p.m. Thursday; Good Friday worship at 7 p.m. Friday. New Life Christian Church in Bella Vista,

The church begins a new series of Bible study April 23. The study is based on The Story: The Bible as One Continuing Story of God and His People by Max Lucado and Randy Frazee. Each person who attends the series will receive a free, hardcover copy of the book, beginning Sunday.
