He insulted Arkansas

-

I have a response to John Brummett insulting Arkansas in his column in Sunday’s paper about the death sentences that our governor wants to have carried out. What I have to say is God bless you, Governor Hutchinson, for having a heart for the victims and for those of their families who want the killers to pay for their crimes while Brummett apparently only cares about the rapists and murderers who stole their lives. Oh, those poor criminals, you say the drugs cause inhumane pain and suffering? How about the absolute horror and misery their victims suffered? How about their lives, their futures being stolen from them? How about the heart-wrenching sadness their loved ones went through from losing them?

I’ll use one example here of why no one should care if they suffer, and if I cause any pain to the loved ones by writing this, please, please, know how sorry I am. One of the murderers that Brummett seems to care so much about was already doing time for killing a cheerleader when he escaped and killed a man to steal his car, then killed another man in a car wreck while running from the police. He killed three people and you care if he suffers?

Mr. Brummett, all of these innocent victims’ lives were stolen by heartless, uncaring and dangerous murderers, and I hope that none of their loved ones read your column—or my letter. And I believe Arkansas doesn’t have a “bad reputation” for your not caring— you do. God said an eye for an eye and he is the judge—it definitely isn’t you.

And as for your columns? They have always been the most boring part of the entire paper.
