BENTONVILLE HIGH 2, SPRINGDALE HAR-BER 1

Jose Castro and Rodrigo Mouron provided first-half goals, and Bentonville held off Har-Ber’s aggressive second-half play to knock off the Wildcats and break their winning streak at 10 matches.

Castro used a penalty kick to give the Tigers (8-3-1, 7-3) a 1-0 lead with 13 minutes, 16 seconds remaining in the first half. The penalty kick came after Har-Ber’s Oscar Lemus was issued a red card during a Bentonville free kick attempt.

Mouron then picked up his goal off a corner kick with just under 5 minutes before halftime and gave the Tigers a 2-0 cushion. Har-Ber (14-2-1, 8-2) picked up its goal when Sandro Ramirez scored with 18:42 remaining, and a defensive play by a Bentonville defender kept the Wildcats from tying the match off a late corner kick.

The Red’Dogs snapped a three-match losing streak with a win against the Wolverines on Monday night at Jarrell Williams Bulldog Stadium.

Fayetteville took an 8-4 lead with five runs in the fifth highlighted by a grand slam by Shalin Charles, but the Lady War Eagles chipped away with three in the sixth and three more runs in the seventh for the win.

GREENWOOD 1, BENTONVILLE WEST 0 (8 INNINGS)

Rheding Wagoner’s two-out single drove in Karli Fisher with the only run as Greenwood edged West in an extra-inning nonconference game in Greenwood.

With extra innings played under international tiebreaker rules, Hamilton was placed on second to start the eighth but was retired on a fielder’s choice at third for the second out. Wagoner, however, followed with her hit to score Fisher, who served as a courtesy runner after Cartwright drew a walk.
