PRAIRIE GROVE — Ida Loretta Spinks, 87, of Prairie Grove, passed away, May 5, 2017. She was born April 7, 1930. Survivors include five children; eight grandchild­ren and 11 great-grandchild­ren. SILOAM SPRINGS — Kyle David Marshall, 31-year-old resident of Siloam Springs, Ark., died May 3, 2017 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Born May 12, 1985, in Dallas, Texas, he was the son of Wesley Marshall and Vicki Shook Marshall.

Kyle graduated from the Arkansas School of Math and Science in 2003. He later graduated Cum Laude from the William Fulbright College of Arts & Sciences at the University of Arkansas in 2007 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mathematic­al Sciences. Kyle was working as a server at Olive Garden in Rogers, Arkansas.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparen­ts, Wayne Shook and Shirley Shook; and his paternal grandmothe­r, Doris Marshall.

He is survived by his parents, Wesley and Vicki Marshall of Siloam Springs; one brother, Jeremy Marshall and wife Bobbi of Denver, Colo.; one sister, Christy Marshall-Owen and husband Nathan of Hesperia, Calif.; one nephew, Wesley Marshall of Denver; his paternal grandfathe­r, J.W. Marshall of Springdale, Ark.; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

SPRINGDALE — Larry Dale “L.D.” Barrett, 44, of Springdale, died Tuesday, April 25, 2017, in Grady, Ark. He was born July 6, 1972, in Rogers to Larry and Nancy Barrett. He is survived by son, Dakota Mobley and wife Dawn of Bella Vista; granddaugh­ters, Izabella and Michaela; brother, Larry Hall of New Mexico; five sisters, including Kimberly Barrett of Colcord, Janet Mobley of Bella Vista and Angela Mobley of Springdale. Graveside service were Thursday at Wilson Cemetery with Heritage Funeral Home.

SPRINGDALE — Melody Lynn Hale, 45, of Springdale, died Thursday, April 28, 2017, at her home. She was born Oct. 17, 1971, in Fayettevil­le.

Melody enjoyed fishing, time in the outdoors and attending concerts. She especially loved spending time with her son.

She is survived by her son, Carter Hale of Springdale; her parents, Daryl S. and Cathy Price also of Springdale; two brothers, including Sterling Price and wife Teddie of Bentonvill­e; and former spouse, Zane Hale of Springdale.

A memorial service will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 9, at Heritage Funeral Home Chapel, online guestbook at www.heritageof­nwa.com. Burial will be private.

DALLAS, Texas — Dawen (Don) Edward Ghent, 93, beloved husband, father and grandfathe­r, peacefully passed away to his next life on May 3, 2017, in Dallas, Texas.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 67 years, Martha Jean Ghent, and son Louis Bartlett Ghent both of Dallas, and daughter Cindy Ghent Smith and adored granddaugh­ter, Drue Ellen Smith both of Fairfax, Virginia. He also leaves behind brother-in-law, Terry (Ann) Smith of Whitehall, sister-inlaw, Carolyn Smith of Lockesburg, many special nieces, nephews and their families.

Born Feb. 26, 1924, in Blue Mountain, Ark., to the late John Bartlett and Sarah Beatrice Ghent, he is preceded in death by his brother, Goodloe Ghent and sister, Sarah Ghent Sade.

Living the majority of his life in Arkansas, his lifetime passion and career with freight and short-line railroads began as a young boy at Choctaw Station in Little Rock, Ark., where his father was the Rock Island RR Agent. He served in the WWII European Theatre as part of the specialize­d Sixth Traffic Regulation Unit to support rail yard reconstruc­tion. He transited Normandy days after the invasion, and encountere­d combat while crossing the Ardennes and Rhineland to his posting as Staff Sergeant in Liege, Belgium.

After WWII, he returned to Arkansas as a RI Agent in Madison, where he married the love of his life. Two children later and after assignment­s in Oklahoma and Kansas, he returned to Sparkman, Ark., as the RI Agent, where he was also elected Mayor. After a short RI assignment in Camden, he became the Executive Vice President of the new East Camden and Highland RR from 1971 until retirement in 1986. He served on the Board of the American Short Line and RR Associatio­n in Washington, D.C. Throughout his entire life, his passion for railroads never waned.

He will lovingly be remembered for his deep devotion to family and friends, overwhelmi­ng pride in his children and granddaugh­ter, dedication to his faith, ability to confidentl­y solve problems, love of travel and good times, gentleness with animals, and his warm smile and hearty laugh. His legacy will continue through the lives he touched.

Graveside services to honor his life will be held Sunday, May 7, 2017, at 11 .m. at Pinecrest Memorial Park in Alexander, Arkansas. CHEHALIS, Wash. — Leo Delia McCurter, 94, of Chehalis, Wash., died April 22, 2017. Survivors include: one son; two brothers; two sisters; five grandchild­ren; 11 great-grandchild­ren and three great-great-grandchild­ren.
