COLLEGE ATHLETICS UA Hall of Honor inductees announced
Football players Ken Hamlin, Madre Hill, Louis Campbell and Bo Busby are among nine inductees for the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville Sports Hall of Honor class for 2017 it was announced Thursday.
Other inductees are Troy Eklund (baseball), Melvin Lister (track and field) Jack O’Keefe (golf), Amy Wright (women’s basketball) and Chin Bee Khoo (women’s golf).
The inductees were elected by a vote of former Razorbacks letter winners in conjunction with the A Club. The event is coordinated by the Razorback Foundation.
There will be an induction banquet at the Fayetteville Town Center on Sept. 8, the night before Arkansas’ home opener against TCU at Reynolds Razorback Stadium.
Inductees also will be recognized at halftime of the Arkansas-TCU game. Kickoff for the game has not been announced.

Wise signs with Patriots
Former Arkansas defensive end Deatrich Wise, the 131st pick of the NFL Draft, signed with the New England Patriots on Thursday.
Wise, 22, a fourth-round selection by the Patriots, will join former Razorback Trey Flowers on the New England defensive line. A 6-5, 271-pounder from Carrollton, Texas, Wise recorded 112 tackles, 16½ sacks, 6 passes defended and 4 forced fumbles in his career. The 16½ sacks rank 10th in Arkansas history. — Tom Murphy
WOMEN’S SOCCER Oklahoma Christian hires Springdale native as head coach
Meagan Anderson, a Springdale native and former Oklahoma Christian women’s soccer standout, was named the new women’s soccer coach at OC.
Anderson, 31, will be the sixth head coach in the history of the program. She has worked as the head coach at Edmond (Okla.) North since 2013, going 60-22 in five seasons.
Anderson said she’s long hoped for the chance to work as the head coach at her alma mater.
“I’m excited for the challenge and the uniqueness I can bring to the program, having been in their shoes, literally,” Anderson said. “Hopefully we can find that drive and that same sense of pride that we had several years ago.
Then known as Megan Pless, Anderson was a former prep standout from at Springdale, and played forward for the Lady Eagles from 2004-07, starting 48 games and helping OC qualify for the NAIA Championship in 2004 and 2006 – two of the program’s three national-tournament appearances.
Anderson is married to Dustin Anderson and the couple lives in Edmond with their two sons, Aiden and Wyatt.
WRESTLING Fayetteville, Wild Hogs plan open house
Fayetteville students in grades K-8 who want to learn to wrestle are invited to attend an open house on Monday and Tuesday, May 22-23 from 6 to 7 p.m. at the Fayetteville High School wrestling room.
The participants will practice and observe the program. Participants should wear socks as no shoes are permitted on the mat.

‘Tigers in Training’ camp set for July
Bentonville High’s football team will hold its annual “Tigers In Training” football camp July 18 and 19 at Tiger Stadium.
“Tigers In Training” is an individual camp for students entering the second through seventh grades next fall, and campers will be placed in their specific positions to learn techniques in order to let them become better players. Bentonville head coach Jody Grant and assistant coaches will direct the camp and have campers go through individual drills, one-onone competitions and team competitions.
Campers are asked to wear shorts, T-shirts, socks and cleats during the camp. Cost of the game is $60 for those registering early and $65 for those registering on the day of the camp.

HSU women 5th, ATU moves up to 7th
Henderson State University women dropped a spot Thursday to finish in fifth place as a team, while Arkansas Tech University shot the fifth-lowest score of the day to finish tied for seventh place at the halfway point of the NCAA Division II National Championships in Findlay, Ohio.
Henderson State’s Sarah Wright shot a 4-over 76 and is tied for seventh place individually with two other golfers. The Reddies shot a 318 total Thursday and trail Dallas Baptist University, Barry University, Indianapolis University and West Texas A&M University in the team standings. Pia Nunbhakdi and Caroline Fredensborg each shot a 6-over 78 to lead the Golden Suns, who trail St. Mary’s University by nine shots. Nunbhakdi is tied for 20th place individually, while Fredensborg is tied for 39th place. — Democrat-Gazette Press Services
