ELKINS — Florence
Colombe, 80 of Elkins, Ark., passed away Friday, May 26, 2017, in Fayetteville, Ark. She was born Sept. 26, 1936, in Granby, Mo., to Elsie Carterman and Geneva (Finch) Carterman.
She was a retired lens inspector for Walmart Optical Lab.
She is survived by her daughter, Brenda Long of Elkins, Ark., one brother, Richard Carterman of Diamond, Mo., one sister, Phyllis Loving of Springfield, Mo., and two grandsons, Derrick Brink of Durham, Ark., and Jamie Brink and wife Kayla of Durham, Ark.

FAYETTEVILLE —
David H. Westendorf, age 76, of Fayetteville passed away Monday, May 22, 2017. He was born July 7, 1940, in Cincinnati, Ohio, to Herbert and Helen Winters Westendorf.
He was an Air Force veteran. He received his M.A. and Ph.D. Degrees from Vanderbilt University. David joined the faculty of the University of Arkansas in 1974 and taught there as a psychology professor until his retirement in 2005.
He is survived by his wife, Anita Zisner; four siblings, Dick Westendorf and his wife Jean of Cincinnati, Ohio, Sue Simon Westendorf of Athens, Ohio, Sally Pitstick and her husband Earl of Cincinnati, Ohio, Mary Ann Westendorf and her husband Gary Goosman of Amesville, Ohio; two grandchildren, Jacob and Ellayna Davis of Spring, Texas.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Moore’s Chapel in Fayetteville. A memorial will be held 3 p.m. – 6 p.m. Sunday, June 4, 2017, at the West Mountain Brewery in Fayetteville. HINDSVILLE — Althea
Jane Scott, 62, of Hindsville, Ark., died May 30, 2017, peacefully at her home. She was born Sept. 11, 1954, at Fayetteville, Ark., the daughter of Loye Leon and Lily B. Fields Elliott.
She married Kenneth Michael Scott on Oct. 13, 1984. in Slidell, La. She was a veteran of the U.S. Army, worked as a dental hygienist in Fayetteville and attended the First Baptist Church of Huntsville.
She is preceded in death by her parents, one brother Monty J. Elliott and stepmother Betty S. Hall Elliott.
Survivors include her husband Mike of the home; two sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Shelby Scott and Marcus and Heather Scott all of Russellville, Ark.; one daughter and son-in-law, Angie and James McNeese of Russellville, Ark.; four sisters and brothers-in-law, Deborah and Robert Henson of Suffolk, Va., Rebecca and Jeff Hudson of Platte City, Mo., Mari Jo and Dale Wilkes of Holts Summit, Mo., and Stepsister Carol Chapman of St. Peters, Mo.; two brothers, Paul Elliot of Blue Springs, Mo., and stepbrother, Michael Dana of Fayetteville, Ark,; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; 12 nieces and nephews; six aunts and uncles.

Hiatt Phillips, 96, of Little Rock passed away on May 29, 2017. She was born on Jan. 18, 1921, in Vesta, Ark., to H. Clyde and Farry Bonner Hiatt and raised in Charleston.
While attending the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, she met and later married Harry H. Phillips of Old Alabam, Ark. During their 59 years of marriage, Lucille was a devoted wife and mother, but also made time for her love of gardening.
She was active in various garden clubs and other civic organizations in the many cities in which she lived before returning to Arkansas to live in Little Rock. There she followed and developed her interests in interior design and began a retail career in home decorating and furnishings.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; her stepmother, Eula Y. Hiatt; and three brothers, Clifton B. Hiatt, Paul Hiatt, and Bill C. Hiatt.
She is survived by her sons, H. Hugh Phillips of Cambridge, Mass., and Clyde H. Phillips of Little Rock, Ark.; a granddaughter, Anastasi Phillips of New York, N.Y.; three brothers, Joe S. Hiatt and Don Y. Hiatt of Charleston, Ark., and Clyde L. Hiatt of Fayetteville, Ark.; and by her nieces; nephews and their children.

LOWELL — Betty Jo
Capehart, 73, of Lowell passed away May 31, 2017, in Springdale. She was born Sept. 15, 1943, to Edward E. and Mary Cathryn Lynch Rounds.
Betty was a former certified nurse assistant at Springdale Memorial Hospital and St. Mary’s Hospital in Rogers, a member of the New Hope Holiness Church in Rogers.
She is preceded in death by her parents and one sister Bonnie Sue Kuebler. She is survived by her husband David Capehart of the home; one brother, Gary Edward Rounds and wife Olivia of Berryville and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews.
Funeral services 10 a.m. Saturday; June 3, 2017, at Benton County Funeral Home, 306 N. 4th, Rogers. Interment will follow in the Tucks Chapel Cemetery in Rogers. ROGERS — Mrs. Mary
Viera, age 75, of Rogers, Ark., passed away, Monday, May 29, 2017, at her home in Rogers. Mrs. Viera was born Feb. 25, 1942, in Jasper, Ark., to Amos and Anna Holt.
Mrs. Viera was an EKG Tech with Northwest Hospital for many years.
Mrs. Viera was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, William “Bill” Viera, daughter, Patricia Norried and grandchild, William Gene Norried Jr.
Mrs. Viera is survived by her children, Haley Viera of the home, Ricki and Deborah Robinson of Rogers, Rebecca Cannady and Mike Kelley of Rogers, Chris and Dora Robinson of Rogers, Wayne and Debbie Robinson of Cold Hill, Ark., John Holt and Dianna Mullins of Rogers, and Kim Flathery of Clarksville, Tenn., seven grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.

SPRINGDALE — Piney Ann Luper, age 76, of Springdale, went to be with the Lord on May 30, 2017, at Earlene Howard Circle of Life Hospice House. She was born Aug. 17, 1940, in Fayetteville, Ark., the daughter of the late Jack and Ina McClendon Guist.
She was retired from Allen Canning Company and attended Mercy & Grace Cathedral Church.
She is preceded by her husband, Carl Luper; three brothers and two sisters. Mrs. Luper is survived by one son, Robert Luper and his wife, Bobbie, of Fayetteville; three daughters: Helen Harrington and her husband, David, of Humboldt, Kan.; Sharon Luper, of Rogers; and Letha Collins and her husband, Jay, of Chester; three sisters: Carolyn Spears and her husband, Paul, of Springdale; Marcella Sides and her husband, Dan, of Durham, Okla.; and Ruth Hunter of Oxen Hill, Md.; 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Thursday, June 1, 2017, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Memorial Funeral Home, 3926 Willowood Avenue, Springdale, Ark., 72762. Funeral services will be June 2, 2017, at 10 a.m. n the chapel of Memorial Funeral Home with Pastor Larry Marler officiating. Burial will follow in Hickory Creek Cemetery.
