Frisco’s offense erupts in rout of Naturals

FRISCO, Texas — Andy Ibanez hit two home runs and drove in six runs, as the Frisco RoughRider­s defeated the Northwest Arkansas Naturals 13-2 on Wednesday.

The home runs by Ibanez, both three-run shots, came in the second off Ashton Goudeau and in the third off Jared Ruxer.

Jose Cardona homered and singled three times, driving in two runs in the win.

Frisco right-hander Ariel Jurado (6-3) picked up a quality start and the win after allowing two runs on five hits over seven innings. Opposing starter Goudeau (2-5) took the loss in the Texas League game after giving up six runs and eight hits over two innings.

With the win, Frisco improved to 4-1 against Northwest Arkansas this season.

CARDINALS 5, HOOKS 4

Casey Grayson hit a run-scoring single in the first inning, leading the Springfiel­d Cardinals to a 5-4 win over the Corpus Christi Hooks on Wednesday.

Magneuris Sierra scored on the play to give the Cardinals a 1-0 lead after he reached base on a walk and advanced to third on a single by Jose Adolis Garcia.

Trailing 5-3, the Hooks cut into the deficit in the eighth inning when Kyle Tucker hit a solo home run.

Springfiel­d right-hander Dakota Hudson (3-2) picked up a quality start and the win after allowing three runs on six hits over seven innings. Opposing starter Rogelio Armenteros (2-2) took the tough loss in the Texas League game after giving up two runs and four hits over five innings. Tyler Bray retired the side in order for his first save of the season.

For the Hooks, Tucker homered and doubled.

ROCKHOUNDS 7, TRAVELERS 5

J.P. Sportman homered and singled twice, driving in two runs as the Midland RockHounds defeated the Arkansas Travelers 7-5 on Wednesday.

Beau Taylor tripled and singled twice with an RBI and a run for Midland.

Kyle Finnegan struck Seth Mejias-Brean out with a runner on third to end the game for his seventh save of the season.

Midland took the lead in the first when it scored three runs, including a solo home run by Yairo Munoz.

Trailing 5-1, the Travelers cut into the deficit in the fifth inning when Chuck Taylor hit an RBI single, driving in Jeff Kobernus.

The RockHounds later tacked on a run in both the sixth and seventh innings. In the sixth, B. Taylor scored on a wild pitch, while Sportman hit an RBI single in the seventh.
