Naturals sweep doublehead­er

NATURALS 4-3, DRILLERS 0-2

TULSA, Okla. — Corey Toups homered and had two hits, and Zach Lovvorn allowed just four hits over 62/3 innings as the Northwest Arkansas Naturals defeated the Tulsa Drillers 4-0 in Friday’s schedule game.

The game began after the two teams finished Thursday night’s continuati­on, which was suspended in the eighth inning with the scored tied. The game was set for seven innings.

Lovvorn (4-4) struck out three and walked one to get the win.

In the top of the first, NW Arkansas took the lead on a solo home run by Toups. The Naturals then added a run in the fifth and two in the sixth. In the fifth, Samir Duenez hit an RBI double, while Donald Dewees hit an RBI triple in the sixth.

Scott Barlow (4-3) went six innings, allowing four runs and five hits in the Texas League game. He also struck out nine and walked four.

The Drillers were held off the scoreboard for the sixth time this season, while the Naturals' staff recorded their fifth shutout of the year.

Humberto Arteaga hit an RBI single in the top of the 10th inning to lead the North- west Arkansas Naturals to a 3-2 win over the Tulsa Drillers in the second game of a

doublehead­er on Thursday.

Donald Dewees scored the go-ahead run on the single after

he led off the inning with a double and advanced to third on a sacrifice bunt.

Reliever Sam Selman (3-2) picked up the win after he struck out five and walked one while allowing one hit over three scoreless innings. Karch Kowalczyk (3-2) went one inning, allowing one run and two hits while striking out one in the Texas League game.

Zach Walters reached base four times in the win.
