Personal space

-

Amber Perrodin

Where I live: downtown Springdale.

Occupation: artist and creative director of The Little Craft Show.

My favorite space is: my art studio.

Why? My studio is my most personal space, where I am able to freely create my art and leave carefree messes while in the midst of projects. Being the mother of two girls, I have found that creating a space for myself to retreat and work on personal projects is so important. My studio makes it easy for me to keep my home life and art completely separate. I also love having a place to physically go to in order to work.

My husband and I renovated this studio to fit my needs as a print maker, mixed media artist and event coordinator. It comfortably holds two printing presses, a messy table top, and large flat files all while still giving me the space to host classes or workshops.

I love the crisp, white walls, natural lighting and minimal pendant lights that, for me, keep the visual noise at bay and allows my artwork to be the true focus of my attention while I’m working.

If I could make one change to improve this space, I would: There have been many wonderful ideas that were born between these studio walls. There’s not much that I would change, but if I could modify one thing it would have to be a better outdoor seating area to step out and enjoy.
