Ogando, Duenez lead Naturals past Tulsa
TULSA, Okla. — Samir Duenez hit a two-run home run and had two hits, and Emilio Ogando allowed just six hits over seven innings as the Northwest Arkansas Naturals defeated the Tulsa Drillers 4-1 on Saturday. With the victory, the Naturals swept the five-game series.
Ogando (4-4) allowed one run while striking out four and walking one to get the win.
NW Arkansas broke a scoreless tie in the top of the sixth when Humberto Arteaga hit an RBI triple and then scored on a sacrifice fly by Donald Dewees.
Tulsa answered in the bottom of the inning when Quincy Latimore scored on a ground out to cut the deficit to one.
The Naturals added to their lead in the seventh when Duenez hit a two-run home run.
Shea Spitzbarth (0-2) went one inning, allowing two runs and two hits in the Texas League game. He also struck out one and walked one. Andrew Edwards pitched two scoreless innings for his first save of the season.
NW Arkansas improved to 11-5 against Tulsa this season.
CARDINALS 18, TRAVELERS 1
Anthony Garcia homered twice and singled, driving in four runs and scoring three, as Springfield beat the Arkansas Travelers on Saturday.
Springfield scored in six different innings in the victory, including the seventh, when it exploded for six runs, including a two-run single by Bruce Caldwell.
Springfield right-hander Dakota Hudson (5-3) picked up a quality start and the win after allowing one run on six hits over seven innings. Opposing starter Justin DeFratus (22) took the loss in the Texas League game after a rough outing in which he allowed six runs and six hits over five innings.
MISSIONS 8, ROUGHRIDERS 2
Ty France had three hits and two RBI, and Kyle Lloyd allowed just four hits over eight innings as the San Antonio Missions topped the Frisco RoughRiders on Saturday.
Lloyd (5-4) allowed two runs while striking out seven to get the win.
Up 1-0 in the second, San Antonio added to its lead when Stephen McGee and Noah Perio scored on an error.
The Missions later added three runs in the fourth and two in the seventh. In the fourth, France drove in two runs and Perio drove in one, while Auston Bousfield hit a two-run single in the seventh.
