CHARLESTON — Mary Ann Thomson, of Charleston, Ark ., passed away Tuesday, June 20, 2017, in Charleston. She was born July 2, 1933, and was almost 84 years old.

She is the widow of Sam Thomson. Rosary service will be at 7 p.m. Friday, June 23, at Brotherton Funeral Home Chapel in Charleston.

Funeral mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 24, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Charleston. Burial will be at Hampton Cemetery, north of Branch, under the direction of Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home and Flower Shop in Charleston.

ELKINS — George Enos Robbins, age 83, of Elkins, died Monday, June 19, 2017. He was born Oct. 15, 1933, in Thompson, Ark., the son of Clyde and Ester Scranton Robbins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers and sisters.

He a retired truck driver for the Campbell Soup Company. He attended Crosses Community Church and Harris Baptist Church and was on the board of Walnut Grove Cemetery.

He loved hunting and fishing and visiting coffee shops and collecting pocket knives. He was a U.S. Army veteran.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Floy Robbins; a daughter, Anita Carol Robbins of Fayettevil­le; special nieces, nephews and special cousins, special friends including caregiver, Natalie Alverado.

Visitation will be 5 p.m.– 7 p.m., Friday, June 23, 2017, at Moore’s Chapel. Funeral service will be 2 p.m., Saturday at Crosses Community Church followed by burial at Walnut Grove Cemetery, under the direction of Moore’s Chapel.

FAYETTEVIL­LE —

Charles William Sloan, 67 of Fayettevil­le, Ark., ascended into Heaven after takeoff on June 21, 2017. He was born Jan. 28, 1950, in Little Rock, Ark., to R.L. Sloan and Arline (McCollum) Sloan.

He was with Riverwood Homes and was a member of Cross Church in Springdale, Ark.

He will be greeted in Heaven by his parents and stepfather, Bear Townsend.

He is survived by his wife, Cindy Sloan, two daughters, CharLee Sloan-Rogers and husband Ethan of Clarksvill­e, Ark., Cydnee Sloan of Fayettevil­le, Ark., sister, Bettye Sloan of Fayettevil­le, Ark., brother, Robert Sloan and wife Georgia of Houston, Texas, aunt, Ms. Theressa Tackett of Cabot, Ark., his best friend, Carol Marshall of Fayettevil­le, Ark., many nieces, nephews, and cousins as well as his granddogge­rs, Buddy, Bear, C.C., and Buck.

Visitation will be Friday, June 23 from 5 p. m. until 7 p.m. at Nelson-Berna Funeral Home in Fayettevil­le. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m., Saturday, June 24 at Cross Church in Springdale with Dr. Jon H. Allen officiatin­g. Private burial will be held at Oak Grove Cemetery in Austin, Ark.

GARFIELD — Richard

E. “Dick” Barnes, 81, of Garfield, Ark., passed away Tuesday, June 20, 2017, at Circle of Life Hospice Legacy Village in Bentonvill­e, Ark. He was born July 7, 1935, in Creede, Colo., and was raised in the Sulphur Springs, Ark., area by his parents Shannon and Rose Davis Barnes.

Dick spent many years working for Superior Boiler Works in Hutchinson, Kan., before moving back to Arkansas where he became a successful business owner. He owned and operated R.E. Barnes Incorporat­ed in Springdale from 1979 until 1999.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworkin­g. He was an avid outdoorsma­n and a great chef. He found his true happiness enjoying God’s nature at his home on Beaver Lake. Dick was a very generous person and he loved to travel.

Dick married the love of his life, Alice K. Barnes, in December 1979 in which they spent the next 27 years traveling and loving life.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Alice Barnes and his parents.

Survivors include one son, Clark Barnes of Hutchinson, Kan.; three daughters, Kathy Mullin of Olathe, Kan., Roxie Wyer of Bella Vista, Ark., and Brenda Ludlow of Olathe, Kan.; one brother, Earl Barnes and wife Irene of Hutchinson, Kan.; one sister, Marie Boling and husband John of Wichita, Kan., and one grandson, Aaron Wolfe of Springdale and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be Monday, June 26, 2017, at 10 a.m. at Sisco Funeral Chapel of Springdale. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery in Tontitown.

Visitation will be Sunday, from 4 to 6 p.m. with a Rosary beginning at 4 p.m. at the funeral home.

of Green Forest, Ark. was born June 24, 1940, in Rison, Ark., son of Harold Horton and Estelle Marie (Scott) Beckwith. He departed this life Monday, June 19, 2017, in Berryville, Ark., at the age of 76 years.

Harley proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. He graduated from Watson Chapel High School in 1958. He attended Arkansas A&M, now known as UofA at Monticello, Ark., where he was member of the Sigma Tau Gamma Fraternity. He was the USDA inspector for FH&P, (now Das Butcher Haus) in August 1971 and retired from the inspection program in March 2000.

During his lifetime, he was a member of the Green Forest United Methodist Church, American Legion, Carroll County Cattleman’s Associatio­n, Ozark Riding Club and Jefferson County Mounted Patrol.

He loved his horses, especially the Beckwith horses from South Dakota. His favorite vacation was hauling the horses to the river or The Big Oak, camping out and riding every day. If traveling, he loved to just drive and see the country.

His grandchild­ren call him Papa and he doted on all of them. Kyler, Kady, Jeremiah, Miriam, Samuel, Hannah and Kensley were all his little cowboys and cowgirls.

In 1976, Harley met and married Jeannie ( Martin) Beckwith, who survives him. He is also survived by his children, daughter, Rachel Kendrick and husband, Kevin; son, Allen Beckwith and wife, Joni; sister, Helen Walker; brother Jimmy Beckwith; seven grandchild­ren; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends and loved ones. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Estelle Beckwith; three brothers, Oliver, Sam and Raymond Beckwith; two sisters, Barbara Beckwith and Louise (Beckwith) Simmons.

Visitation will be 5 p.m. until 7 p.m., Thursday, June 22, 2017 at Nelson’s Green Forest Chapel. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m., Friday, June 23, 2017, at Nelson’s Green Forest Chapel with Reverend Steve Cook and Brother Kevin Robertson officiatin­g. Interment will follow the service in the Farewell Cemetery, Green Forest, Ark., under the direction of Nelson Funeral Service.

Joseph Mitchell, 98, of Huntsville, died June 18, 2017. World War II veteran.

Survivors: wife, Caroline Ann Colston Mitchell and two sons, Bruce Mitchell and Brian Mitchell.

ROGERS — Audie Lee

Slinkard, 58, of Rogers passed away Tuesday, June 20, 2017. He was born July 15, 1958, in Rogers to the late Leslie Roy Slinkard and Jacqueline Arveta Curnutt Slinkard.

He was also preceded by his beloved niece, Bette Ann Slinkard. Following graduation, he proudly served in the U.S. Air Force and was a long-time Walmart employee.

He enjoyed camping, fishing, watching the Razorbacks and classic western movies.

Those who will miss his great sense of humor include his children, Stephanie Slinkard of Rogers and Curtis Slinkard of Avoca; his siblings, Kaye Fellers (Tim), Roy Slinkard (Susie), Paula Lloyd (Kenneth) and Wendy Patterson (Phillip) all of Rogers; three step-children, LeAnn, Beverly and Jerry; four grandchild­ren and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.

A private funeral service, with full military honors, will be held at Fayettevil­le National Cemetery.

SPRINGDALE — Jerry

Lee Boatright, 69 of Springdale passed away Wednesday, June 21, 2017, at Circle of Life Hospice in Springdale. He was born July 18, 1947, in Fayettevil­le to Elmer Clarence and Carrie Laveda Sutton Boatright.

Jerry was a long haul truck driver. He was a member of the Johnson Church of Christ.

He enjoyed gardening, traveling in his motorhome, riding motorcycle­s and building trikes.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Robert Wayne Boatright, one brother and three sisters.

Survivors include his wife Darlyene Boatright of the home; one daughter, Teresa Rogers and husband Randy of Springdale; two sisters, Virginia Wales of Kansas City, Mo., and Ilda Vetetoe of Springdale; two grandchild­ren, Jeramey Rogers and wife Courtney of Springdale and Brittaney Rogers of Fayettevil­le; five great grandchild­ren, Zaedyn, Madasyn, Kynleigh, Shaelynn Rogers and Tryston Howell.
