Paving set for 112, lane closings for I-49

-

SPRINGDALE — Paving work associated with building the U.S. 412 Northern Bypass requires a lane closing on Arkansas 112, according to Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department officials.

Beginning Monday, one lane of traffic will remain open on Arkansas 112 between Carrie Smith Road and West Miller Road as crews lay asphalt. The lane closing will alternate between the northbound and southbound lane. Traffic will be controlled using flaggers, traffic barrels and warning signs.

Weather permitting, the lane closing will occur from 9 a. m. to 4 p. m. Monday through June 30. Two lanes of traffic will be restored daily by 4 p.m.

Four miles of the four-lane U.S. 412 Northern Bypass will extend from Interstate 49 to Arkansas 112. The project is expected to be completed mid-2018 and will provide a principal east-west route north of Springdale.

Construction work in Bentonville and Rogers requires overnight lane closings on I-49, according to Highway Department officials.

Crews will remove the barrier wall along the inside lanes of northbound and southbound I-49. The inside lanes will be closed between Southeast Walton Boulevard, Exit 85, and Central Avenue/ Arkansas 72, Exit 88. Traffic will be controlled using signs and traffic barrels.

The lane closings will be from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. today through June 30, weather permitting.

The project is part of AHTD’s Connecting Arkansas Program and includes widening more than three miles of I-49 to three lanes in each direction. The work extends from U.S. 62/Arkansas 102 to Arkansas 72 and includes constructing auxiliary lanes toward Southeast Walton Boulevard. Construction is expected to complete late this year.
