The subject of women

Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette - - VOICES -

Once again in an editorial, this newspaper has exhibited its utter contempt for women. In the extended rant against abortion, the editors not once mentioned the many legitimate and often life-threatening reasons that women choose to have an abortion. From their sanctimonious perch at the top of the food chain, it seems these white men fail to comprehend their hypocrisy.

For one thing, while bewailing the intrusion of government into our lives with ever higher taxes and countless regulations, they’re eager for government intrusion into women’s uteruses and the sanctity of the family.

For another thing, while condemning abortion, it seems they’re the first to protest any suggestion of sex education or, oh dear, free birth control from places like Planned Parenthood. Perhaps they’ve failed to connect the dots between ignorance, lack of birth control, and unwanted pregnancy. Well, guys, in every state that has promoted sex ed in schools and distribution of birth control, abortion rates have dropped dramatically. How amazing.

The only real path forward, according to the unevolved males among us, is to put women back in the kitchen, barefoot and pregnant. All these troubles started with giving women the right to vote, and after that, it’s been one abomination after another. Equal pay? Equal rights? What horror.

As little wannabe gods, judgment is theirs.

Fundamentally, the argument against abortion rights is that women just aren’t smart enough or decent enough to be trusted with decisions about their own bodies. Bring in the men! DENELE CAMPBELL West Fork
