Ex-Univision host extradited to face child-rape charge
The former Univision Arkansas host Victor Hugo Alvarez-Real was released early Tuesday on a $25,000 bond from the Washington County Detention Center where he was being held in connection with the rape of a child.
Alvarez-Real, 35, of 1012 N. Kansas St. in Springdale was booked in to the detention center at 11:07 p.m. Monday after being extradited from the Dallas County Jail where he was originally held after being arrested June 21.
In late October, a mother took her 7-year-old child to the Children’s Clinic in Springdale for a rash, which later tested positive for herpes and chlamydia, according to an arrested affidavit.
In January, the child told her mother Alvarez-Real assaulted her and the woman contacted police, according to the affidavit.
When contacted by officials in January, Alvarez-Real denied any wrongdoing, according to the affidavit filed May 3.
On May 15, an arrest warrant was issued for Alvarez-Real.
His Washington County Circuit Court hearing is scheduled for July 14, according to the county’s online detainee information.
