WASHINGTON COUNTY

Cen­tral United Methodist Church in Fayetteville, 6 W. Dickson St., cel­e­brates the Rev. Jody Far­rell, lead pas­tor of Gen­e­sis Church, who was com­mis­sioned June 20 as a pro­vi­sional el­der in the Arkansas An­nual Con­fer­ence of the United Methodist Church. Af­ter a two-year res­i­dency, he will be el­i­gi­ble for or­di­na­tion as a full el­der.

Far­rell served as a full­time mis­sion­ary un­til 2006, when he be­gan serv­ing Cen­tral as di­rec­tor of mis­sions and out­reach, lead­ing many in­ter­na­tional mis­sion teams. In 2014, he be­came the lead pas­tor at Gen­e­sis Church, a satel­lite cam­pus of Cen­tral.

BEN­TON COUNTY

Unity Church of the Ozarks in Ben­tonville, 902 S.W. Sec­ond St., Suite E, hosts a church bazaar from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Fri­day and July 22, with raf­fle prizes from Crys­tal Bridges Mu­seum of Amer­i­can Art, Lowe’s, Barnes & Noble Book­sellers, Ap­ple­bee’s and more. The Sa­cred So­cial Ac­tion team meets at 6:30 p.m. SSA laun­dry-style bags to hold chil­dren’s large toy items, etc., are needed for chil­dren at the North­west Arkansas Chil­dren’s Shel­ter.

First United Methodist Church in Bella Vista, 20 Boyce Drive, hosts the Care and Share Trailer, sup­port­ing a Gravette thrift store and food pantry, from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Mon­day in the church park­ing lot.

The church of­fers va­ca­tion Bi­ble school from 6 to 8 p.m. July 23-27 for chil­dren age 3 through sixth-graders.

The United Methodist Women plan their an­nual rum­mage sale from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Aug. 5.

The Men’s Em­maus group meets at 1 p.m. each Wed­nes­day. Friends Plus Healthy Liv­ing meets at 9 a.m. each Wed­nes­day to walk and share tips about mak­ing health­ier life­style choices.

Bella Vista Lutheran Church, 1990 For­est Hills Blvd., plans a cook­out and potluck to honor Bella Vista’s First Re­spon­ders at 4:30 p.m. July 30.

The Shep­herd’s Food Pantry is open from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. ev­ery Fri­day. Do­na­tion re­quests in­clude sham­poo, deodor­ant and body wash. The church’s fel­low­ship team asks for do­na­tions of chil­dren’s school cloth­ing in sizes medium (10 to 12), large (14 to 16) and ex­tra large (18 to 20).

First Pres­by­te­rian Church in Ben­tonville, 901 N.E. J St., of­fers Bi­ble-based day camps for chil­dren who have com­pleted kinder­garten to sixth grade. Each camp runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. for five days, July 17-21 and July 24-28.

The church op­er­ates a food pantry from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. ev­ery Satur­day.

Holy Trin­ity Lutheran Church in Rogers, 1101 W. Hud­son Road, of­fers va­ca­tion Bi­ble school July 30 to Aug. 3.

The Pres­by­te­rian Church of Bella Vista, 1880 For­est Hills Blvd., plans a “Back to School Brunch” at 8:30 a.m. to­day. Par­tic­i­pants are asked to bring school sup­plies, which will be do­nated to Gravette schools. A pro­gram fol­lows.

The church presents a “Cre­ative Kids Make It and Share It” from 9 to 11:30 a.m. July 31 to Aug. 4 for stu­dents in kinder­garten through 12th grade. Par­tic­i­pants will make dif­fer­ent projects each day and de­liver them to non­profit agen­cies in Bella Vista.

Through the sum­mer months, the church col­lects snacks for kids to do­nate to Help­ing Hands Food Pantry in Ben­tonville. Sug­gested items in­clude cheese and crack­ers, fruit cups, juice pack­ets and boxes, gra­nola bars and mi­crowav­able items such as mac­a­roni and cheese, ravi­oli and soups.
