WASHINGTON COUNTY

Central United Methodist Church in Fayettevil­le, 6 W. Dickson St., celebrates the Rev. Jody Farrell, lead pastor of Genesis Church, who was commission­ed June 20 as a provisiona­l elder in the Arkansas Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church. After a two-year residency, he will be eligible for ordination as a full elder.

Farrell served as a fulltime missionary until 2006, when he began serving Central as director of missions and outreach, leading many internatio­nal mission teams. In 2014, he became the lead pastor at Genesis Church, a satellite campus of Central.

Unity Church of the Ozarks in Bentonvill­e, 902 S.W. Second St., Suite E, hosts a church bazaar from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday and July 22, with raffle prizes from Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art, Lowe’s, Barnes & Noble Bookseller­s, Applebee’s and more. The Sacred Social Action team meets at 6:30 p.m. SSA laundry-style bags to hold children’s large toy items, etc., are needed for children at the Northwest Arkansas Children’s Shelter.

First United Methodist Church in Bella Vista, 20 Boyce Drive, hosts the Care and Share Trailer, supporting a Gravette thrift store and food pantry, from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday in the church parking lot.

The church offers vacation Bible school from 6 to 8 p.m. July 23-27 for children age 3 through sixth-graders.

The United Methodist Women plan their annual rummage sale from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Aug. 5.

The Men’s Emmaus group meets at 1 p.m. each Wednesday. Friends Plus Healthy Living meets at 9 a.m. each Wednesday to walk and share tips about making healthier lifestyle choices.

Bella Vista Lutheran Church, 1990 Forest Hills Blvd., plans a cookout and potluck to honor Bella Vista’s First Responders at 4:30 p.m. July 30.

The Shepherd’s Food Pantry is open from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Friday. Donation requests include shampoo, deodorant and body wash. The church’s fellowship team asks for donations of children’s school clothing in sizes medium (10 to 12), large (14 to 16) and extra large (18 to 20).

Bella Vista Community Church, 75 E. Lancashire Blvd., offers a newcomers’ orientatio­n at 7 p.m. Wednesday for those interested in knowing more about the church.

The church offers a weekly prayer service from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. each Wednesday.

First Presbyteri­an Church in Bentonvill­e, 901 N.E. J St., offers Bible-based day camps for children who have completed kindergart­en to sixth grade. Each camp runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. for five days, July 17-21 and July 24-28.

The church operates a food pantry from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. every Saturday.

Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Rogers, 1101 W. Hudson Road, offers vacation Bible school July 30 to Aug. 3.

The Presbyteri­an Church of Bella Vista, 1880 Forest Hills Blvd., plans a “Back to School Brunch” at 8:30 a.m. today. Participan­ts are asked to bring school supplies, which will be donated to Gravette schools. A program follows.

The church presents a “Creative Kids Make It and Share It” from 9 to 11:30 a.m. July 31 to Aug. 4 for students in kindergart­en through 12th grade. Participan­ts will make different projects each day and deliver them to nonprofit agencies in Bella Vista.

Through the summer months, the church collects snacks for kids to donate to Helping Hands Food Pantry in Bentonvill­e. Suggested items include cheese and crackers, fruit cups, juice packets and boxes, granola bars and microwavab­le items such as macaroni and cheese, ravioli and soups.
