Joint effort
Firefighters hose off a building Friday during a joint response between Bentonville, Bella Vista, Pea Ridge and Centerton fire departments for an electrical fire at Spanker Creek Auction Service at 3500 N.E. A St. in Bentonville. Benton County fire marshal Marc Trollinger said the fire appeared to start around the electrical service connection at the back of the building, though the fire is still under investigation. There were no injuries, he said, and damage was primarily on the exterior of the building, though the interior sustained some smoke damage. Deputy Chief Curtis Sharp with the Bentonville Fire Department said that, initially, there was some trouble getting the electricity shut off, which caused some concern, particularly with a metal building. Because of the lack of hydrants, he said, water was brought to the site and pumped into a containment system (pictured), from which the main pump truck drew its water supply. “Looks like the fire started around the electrical service on the back of the building.”
