Of the 202 deceased football players whose brains were examined by Dr. Ann McKee, 111 played in the NFL and 110 of those were found to have chronic traumatic encephalop­athy, the degenerati­ve disease believed to be caused by repeated blows to the head. Forty-four linemen — offensive and defensive — were found to have CTE. The brains were from players who died as young as 23 and as old as 89:
