What: United Way of Northwest Arkansas event to collect school supplies to donate to school districts in Benton, Madison and Washington counties and McDonald County, Mo.

When: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Aug. 4-5

Where: Walmart Supercenters in Bentonville, Fayetteville, Huntsville, Pineville, Mo., Rogers, Siloam Springs and Springdale

• Backpacks for Kids

What: Samaritan Community Center will give away 3,300 backpacks at two locations When: 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Aug. 5 Where: In Benton County, Samaritan Community Center, 1211 W. Hudson Road in Rogers, or Gravette Church of Christ, 202 S.W. Irving St. In Washington County, Samaritan Community Center, 1300 N. Thompson Ave. in Springdale.

Good to know: Attendees must get a ticket prior to the event by calling (479) 636-4198 or by going to the Samaritan Market in Rogers from 9-11 a.m. Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday or to the Samaritan Market in Springdale from 9-11 a.m. Tuesday or Thursday. FARMINGTON

• Back 2 School Bonanza

What: Children receive free backpacks, shoes, haircuts, socks and underwear, vision and dental screenings and kindergarten school physicals in annual event organized by Farmington United Methodist Church.

When: 5-7 p.m. Aug. 3 Where: Farmington United Methodist Church, 355 Southwinds Drive

PRAIRIE GROVE

• Parent Up

What: Event organized by Altrusa International of Washington County for families in Greenland, Prairie Grove, Lincoln and West Fork to receive school supplies in a backpack, along with lunch, haircuts and a book for free.

When: 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday

Where: Cafeteria at Prairie Grove Elementary School, 300 Ed Staggs Drive

• Backpack Bonanza

What: Free backpacks, school supplies and haircuts for any Siloam Springs School District student in need.

When: 9 a.m. to noon, Aug. 12 Where: Panther Health and Wellness Clinic, 1500 N. Mt. Olive

Good to know: Vouchers are available at the Siloam Springs School District website, www. siloamsprings.com, or can be picked up at each school office, at Panther Health and Wellness Clinic, and at open houses.

SPRINGDALE

• Back to School Celebration Backpack Giveaway

What: Variety Insurance’s annual back-to-school event to five 500 backpacks to families. Event includes free food, bounce house, face painting and school supplies.

When: 10 a.m. to noon, Saturday.

Where: Shiloh Square, 106 E. Emma Ave., Springdale

Good to know: Organizers say to arrive early, bring an umbrella for shade and bring water.
