Bee keeping class offered

-

The Newton County Master Gardeners, in conjunction with the Newton County Extension Office and the University of Arkansas AG Extension program, are sponsoring a bee keeping class on Oct. 14 at the Carroll Electric Cooperative building in Jasper. There is no fee to take the class, and it is open to the public. The class will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. with a 45 minute break for lunch starting at noon. (Bring a sack lunch to ensure time to eat.) This will be an in-depth look at bees, hives, honey harvesting and every aspect of bee keeping. For anyone interested in having a hive and harvesting honey, this class will give you the knowledge and training to get started. Even experienced bee keepers will be able to learn from this training.

James Rhein, an experienced bee keeper, will be conducting the class. Resources for materials will also be made available. The class size is not limited, but you must register by Oct. 11.
