Bee keep­ing class of­fered

The New­ton County Master Gar­den­ers, in con­junc­tion with the New­ton County Ex­ten­sion Of­fice and the Univer­sity of Arkansas AG Ex­ten­sion pro­gram, are spon­sor­ing a bee keep­ing class on Oct. 14 at the Car­roll Elec­tric Co­op­er­a­tive build­ing in Jasper. There is no fee to take the class, and it is open to the pub­lic. The class will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. with a 45 minute break for lunch start­ing at noon. (Bring a sack lunch to en­sure time to eat.) This will be an in-depth look at bees, hives, honey har­vest­ing and every as­pect of bee keep­ing. For any­one in­ter­ested in hav­ing a hive and har­vest­ing honey, this class will give you the knowl­edge and train­ing to get started. Even ex­pe­ri­enced bee keep­ers will be able to learn from this train­ing.

James Rhein, an ex­pe­ri­enced bee keeper, will be con­duct­ing the class. Re­sources for ma­te­ri­als will also be made avail­able. The class size is not lim­ited, but you must reg­is­ter by Oct. 11.
