Prose the topic on Saturday
Brad Gambill, head of the English department at John Brown University, will teach a workshop titled Constructing Extraordinary Images in Prose. This will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Village Writing School in the Center for Nonprofits, 1200 W. Walnut St. in Rogers.
Many emerging writers have a too-narrow conception of the image, often limiting it to a visual detail. This workshop will cover additional imagery techniques such as bridging scenes with the “sliding image,” layering images to create energy and tension, “lying” with the image, arguing with images and using the neglected senses to construct images.
The workshop is open to the public. The cost is $25.
