Batesville ground zero for White River Clas­sic

The White River 4-Mile Clas­sic pre­sented by the White River Road­run­ners will be­gin at 7:30 a.m. Sat­ur­day at the Batesville Mu­nic­i­pal Build­ing, 500 E. Main St., Batesville.

The course is USA Track and Field cer­ti­fied and func­tions as the 11th race in the 2017 Arkansas RRCA Grand Prix.

On­line reg­is­tra­tion is avail­able un­til 7:30 p.m. Fri­day for $15, $10 for ages 18 and un­der. Race-day reg­is­tra­tion is avail­able on-site from 6-7 a.m. Sat­ur­day for an ex­tra $5. Packet pickup will be avail­able.

All pre­reg­is­tered run­ners will re­ceive a T-shirt and race­day reg­is­trants will re­ceive shirts while sup­plies last.

Rac­ers will be chip-timed. Tro­phies are up for grabs for the top three male and fe­male run­ners over­all, as well as in the masters, grand masters and se­niors cat­e­gories. Awards will be given three deep by sex and age group (five deep in the most pop­u­lous age groups).

A $150 cash prize will be awarded to any run­ner break­ing the di­vi­sion course record. The male record was set in 2011 at 19:45.07 by Daniel Kirwa. The fe­male record was set in 2014 by Jor­dan Ham­ric at 22:39.58. Tim­ing chips must be re­turned; fail­ure to do so will cost $30.

Af­ter the race at ap­prox­i­mately 8:30 a.m., there will be a free kids fun run for chil­dren 10 and un­der.

Splash and Dash

There will be a Splash and Dash Youth Aquathlon for ages 7 to 16 at 6 p.m. Fri­day at the Wil­son Park Pool and Trail, 675 N. Park Ave., Fayet­teville.

On­line reg­is­tra­tion is avail­able for $35, which in­cludes a one-day USA Triathlon mem­ber­ship, T-shirt, fin­ish­ers medal and photo down­loads.
