Siloam Springs man suspected of having sex with donkey
BENTONVILLE — A Siloam Springs couple concerned about their pet donkeys placed a camera on their property and captured images of a man suspected of having sex with one of the animals.
Everett Compton, 49, of Siloam Springs was arrested in connection with four counts of bestiality; four counts of criminal trespass and five counts of cruelty to a animal. He was being held Wednesday in the Benton County Jail with a $5,000 bond set.
According to a probable cause affidavit, Joshua Fritz, a Siloam Springs police officer, was called June 21 to 1850 E. Cheri Whitlock Drive for a report of sex crimes involving an animal.
The owners of the donkeys said someone had been harassing their pets for the last three years so they posted signs around their property warning people against trespassing and feeding the donkeys. The couple also put up a game camera, which recorded a person at 1:30 a.m. May 27 and June 4 placing a bag over a donkey’s head and on both occasions the man is seen behind the donkey, according to the probable cause affidavit.
Fritz later returned to the home to get more photographs from the couple.
According to the affidavit, the photographs taken at 11:30 p.m July 5 and July 6 showed the suspect feeding the donkeys from bread bags and then he placed a bag over one donkey’s head and then went behind the donkey.
Cpl. Ron Coble, a Siloam Springs officer, was called to the home July 16 for a complaint of a man trespassing and having sex with one of the donkeys.
Coble found the man, later identified as Compton, hiding behind bushes on the property, according to a police report.
Police apprehended the man on the property and he was identified as Compton, according to the affidavit.
Compton denied any sexual contact with the donkeys when questioned by Coble. Coble told Compton about the cameras around the property and Compton said he smokes a lot of marijuana, which makes him do sick things, according to the report.
Compton said he needs help and would seek help if the officer didn’t charge him with having sex with the donkey, according to the police report.
