Food delivery service Waitr starts to roll

Waitr, an on-demand restaurant business, arrived in Northwest Arkansas last week. The Waitr app is used in cities across the Gulf states, including multiple locations in Texas, Louisiana, Alabama and Mississipp­i. Waitr is hiring drivers in Northwest Arkansas. It also launched in Little Rock.

Chris Meaux, the company’s founder, said the delivery charge is a flat fee of $5 and the service includes door-todoor delivery.

Dozens of Northwest Arkansas restaurant­s are participat­ing, including Wood Stone Craft Pizza + Bar, Foghorn’s, Mockingbir­d Kitchen, Sassy’s BBQ & Grill and Newk’s Eatery.

Users create an account, choose a restaurant, browse the menu, select items and tap to submit the order. Ordering is also available online at waitrapp.com.

The company began in 2015 in Lake Charles, La. Waitr has more than 2,000 restaurant­s and hundreds of thousands of users in more than 100 cities.
