Windstream falls; state index up 1.72
The Arkansas Index, a price-weighted index that tracks the largest public companies based in the state, rose 1.72 to 349.03 Monday.
“The major averages closed in positive territory as investors responded to the latest rounds of geopolitical news and earnings reports,” said Bob Williams, senior vice president and managing director of Simmons First Investment Group Inc. in Little Rock.
Windstream shares saw continued weakness falling 4.9 percent on strong volume.
The index was developed by Bloomberg News and the Democrat-Gazette with a base value of 100 as of Dec. 30, 1997.
