Bella Vista res­i­dents in­vited to par­tic­i­pate in plan­ning

BELLA VISTA — The city will host a vi­sion­ing sum­mit work­shop for the Com­pre­hen­sive Plan 2040 from 6 to 8 p.m. Aug. 22 at Riordan Hall.

City res­i­dents are in­vited to at­tend.

The city has con­tracted with con­sul­tants Gould Evans for the project. The team will pro­vide an overview of in­for­ma­tion it has dis­cov­ered about the com­mu­nity in the be­gin­ning stages of this plan­ning process. Gould Evans rep­re­sen­ta­tives will lead par­tic­i­pants through small­group ex­er­cises and dis­cus­sions about chal­lenges and op­por­tu­ni­ties fac­ing the city, ac­cord­ing to a news re­lease.

The goal of the meet­ing is to draft a vi­sion state­ment, goals and tar­gets to guide de­sired changes in Bella Vista. Ad­di­tional meet­ings will be sched­uled as the plan­ning process con­tin­ues, the re­lease stated.

The plan is a doc­u­ment that cre­ates the frame­work for land de­vel­op­ment codes, de­vel­op­ment stan­dards, in­fra­struc­ture in­vest­ments and eco­nomic de­vel­op­ment, and that in­forms de­ci­sion-mak­ing through­out the city.

The plan’s pur­pose is to serve as a frame­work for plan­ning doc­u­ments, as well as a pol­icy guide for cit­i­zens, de­vel­op­ers, staff and elected of­fi­cials re­gard­ing de­vel­op­ment, the re­lease stated.
