Police arrest two accused in homicide
SPRINGDALE — Police arrested two Springdale men Friday in connection with homicide after a man was found dead Thursday afternoon.
Police found Xavier Williams, 24, dead with gunshot wounds in his apartment at 276 Strawberry Meadows Place No. 209 when they arrived about 5:30 p.m. Thursday, according to a news release from Springdale’s Police Department.
Detectives interviewed and later arrested Anferney Amram, 18, and Albert Davis, 19, on Friday, according to preliminary reports. Amram was arrested in connection with capital murder, tampering with evidence, residential burglary, discharging a firearm in city limits and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. Davis was arrested in connection with residential burglary, tampering with evidence and hindering
apprehension.
During an interview with police, Amram admitted shooting Williams several times with a 9mm handgun, according to the release.
Amram told police he shot Williams because he threatened his family. He said he had planned to kill Williams a few months ago and he had stolen the gun just to shoot him, according to the release.
Amram said he took the gun apart and threw the pieces out of a moving vehicle somewhere in Bentonville. He also told police there was a juvenile present during the incident. Police didn’t identify the juvenile in the preliminary
report.
Davis told police he and another friend went and collected shell casings and took Williams’ cellphone out of the apartment and threw them away to protect Amram, according to the release.
Amram was booked at 6:36 a.m. Saturday and was being held at the detention center with no bond set as of Saturday afternoon. Davis was booked shortly after and was being held on $15,000 bond.
Williams’ body was sent to the Arkansas Crime Lab for an autopsy.
The investigation is ongoing, and other arrests are expected, police said Friday.
