Scenic Overlooks of Arkansas-Madison County
DESCRIPTION: The scenic overlooks of Arkansas are great places to see the state from a bird’s eye view and fall is a great time to visit them as the trees burst into color. This is a full day excursion visiting Withrow Springs state park, the Ozark Natural Science Center and two marvelous overlooks with panoramic views of river valleys, forest and prairies. The day will start with a hike on War Eagle Trail, a 1.5 mile trail running alongside War Eagle creek that leads to a bluff overlooking the river valley. The group will be led by the Withrow Springs Park superintendent who will also talk about what the state park has to offer. Next participants will travel to Kings River Overlook trail, a 1 mile out and back trail leading to a perch atop a bluff overlooking the Kings River. As part of this trip participants will take a quick tour of the top notch facilities of the Ozark Natural Science Center and learn about the programs they offer. *The meeting location for transportation and directions for commuters will be sent upon registering.
