Benton, Bentonville hosting Saturday runs

The Arkansas 20K (12.4 miles for the metrically disinclined) will begin and end at the Boys and Girls Clubs of Saline County in Benton’s Riverside Park, 1810 Citizens Drive.

The 15th race in the 2017 Arkansas Grand Prix season will start at 7 a.m. Saturday. There will be an early start for those who need it at 6:30 a.m. (Participants wishing to use the early start should arrive by 6.) The course cut-off time is 10 a.m.

Online registration is available until 11:59 p.m. Thursday for $35.

Packet pickup and late registration will be from 6 to 6:45 a.m. Saturday for an extra $5.

Awards will be given three deep in the overall, masters, grand masters and seniors categories. Awards will also go to the fastest runners by sex and age group. All runners will receive a finisher’s medal.

The Arkansas 20K changed courses in 2016, so both speed records were set last year. The men’s record was set by Mark Ferguson at 1:15:09. The women’s record was set by Tia Stone at 1:23:24.

Square to Square

Expect a crowded bike path between Bentonville and Fayetteville on Saturday as the Square to Square Bike Ride follows the Razorback Regional Greenway from Bentonville’s downtown square to Fayetteville’s.

The 30-mile rides begins at 8 a.m. on the Bentonville Square with remaining start times in 10 minute intervals from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.

Event festivities will take place between 10:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. on the Fayetteville Square.
