CHURCH CELEBRATES 50TH ANNIVERSARY
First Baptist Church of Greenland, 273 W. Wilson St., celebrates 50 years of ministry in a celebration Saturday. Games for children and youth begin at 4 p.m. A grilled meal of hot dogs, hamburers and homemade desserts is served at 5 p.m. The church’s four remaining charter members and former pastors will share testimonies and music will be provided after the meal.

ROGERS GIRL WINS CROWN
Lauren Harris, 4, of Rogers was named the Tiny Miss Arkansas 2017 during a recent competition in Little Rock. She will compete for the national title in November in Houston. In addition, she was judged to have the prettiest eyes, hair and smile. She is the daughter of Jenny Harris of Rogers.
HORSE SHOW WINNERS NAMED
The 2017 Washington County Fair Open Horse Show was held Aug. 26, at the University of Arkansas Pauline Whitaker Arena in Fayetteville.
This is the 24th year the county fair has hosted a horse show, with 40 exhibitors and 213 entries, judged by Karli Jones of Big Cabin, Okla. Classes included halter, showmanship, miniature horse classes, English pleasure and western pleasure. The show featured championship trophies in all divisions.
A new addition to the awards this year was the “Equestrian of Tomorrow Awards,” given to the highest ranking 4-H or FFA youth in a high-point competition that utilized showmanship, English pleasure walk trot, English equitation (walk-trot pattern), western pleasure walk-trot and western equitation. This year’s prizes for the two winners were valued at more than $3, 000, divided between a grand and reserve winner.

Pounds Sensibly (TOPS) announces
Bonnie
Wiles of Fayetteville as its Arkansas queen for losing 123 pounds. In 1999, weighing more than 300 pounds and having tried other diets and drugs, Wiles joined TOPS with a friend. She credits the support of TOPS members and her family. She walks 14,000 steps on a treadmill every day and even indulges in prepackaged treats once a week. She has been able to discontinue medicines for blood pressure and cholesterol. She said she feels more energy to spend time with her children and grandchildren and even enjoys shopping for clothes and having her picture taken.
TOPS is a 69-year-old, not-for-profit, noncommercial weight loss, education and support organization.
