Lyon men win in Melbourne

The Lyon College men’s team shot a 298 team score Thursday to win the Lyon Fall Invite at Cooper’s Hawk Golf Course in Melbourne.

The Scots finished 12 strokes ahead of Blue Mountain College (310) and 19 strokes ahead of Williams Baptist College (317). Joshua Lunceford shot an even-par 72 to finish tied for second individual­ly. Lyon had four players in the top six as Tomas Mariscotti and August Reynolds both shot a 3-over 75 to finish tied for fourth, while Royce LoBianco shot a 4-over 76 to finish sixth.

VOLLEYBALL Arkansas Tech moves to 11-0

Arkansas Tech defeated its second nationally ranked opponent Thursday, taking down No. 15 Central Missouri in five sets in Russellvil­le.

Five different players recorded at least 10 kills for the Golden Suns, including Lexie Johnson and Hunter Eshnaur, who tied for a match-high 14. Eshnaur added 10 digs, while Amanda Milnick set season highs with 44 assists and 11 kills. She also added 15 digs.

MOTOR SPORTS Mid-America Street Stock Championsh­ip set

Street stock racing has evolved into one of the most competitiv­e in dirt racing and one of its most prestigiou­s events, the 22nd annual Schoenfeld Headers Mid-America Street Stock Championsh­ip, will be held tonight and Saturday night at Batesville Motor Speedway in Locust Grove.

The event, which will pay $10,000 to win and $800 to start, figures to draw many of the nation’s top street stock drivers and teams.

Time trials were held Thursday night. Tonight, there will be street stock heat races and a full card for IMCA modifieds. On Saturday night, there will be last-chance qualifiers and the 50-lap main event.

Racing starts at 7:30 p.m. both nights. Adult grandstand admission is $10 tonight and $15 Saturday night. Children aged 14 and under get in free. Pit passes are $30 both nights.
