Wine, literature perfect blend
Polo patrons enjoy match
Patrons of Life Styles Inc. ponied up once again for the 28th annual Polo in the Ozarks on Sept. 16 at the Donna and Brian Buell Farm in Fayetteville.
Along with the polo match, the late-afternoon-into-evening benefit featured children’s activities, tailgate tents, a gala dinner and dancing, a silent auction and live music from Full Flava Kings.
Those enjoying the polo outing included Allison and Josh Tritt, Judy Gaines, Carol and Bill Hart, Terrye and Patric Brosh, Leslee and Kevin McVey, Jennifer and Edward Prewitt, Rosemary Conrad, Janice Stanesic, John Newman and Lydia and Max Mahler.
Wines and readings made for a robust blend at the Literary Council of Benton County’s fourth annual Read Between the Wines on Sept. 16 at River Grille Steakhouse.
Proceeds from the literary evening, which included readings by local celebrities, will help support the nonprofit organization’s programs such as English as a second language, tutor training and student books.
The group has nearly 70 volunteer tutors who typically work with more than one student, according to Vicki Ronald, executive director. She said the group could always use more tutors: Some 90 students are on a waiting list.
Those blending for literacy included Corrina and Alan Dranow, Laura and Kyle Kellams, Carol and Ed Clifford, Veronica and Blake Foster, Jenn Cozens, John Kimball, Jayme Craig, Anita Craig, Tawny and Ryan Sumrall, Kathleen and Chris Burgess, Melody McVey, Sharon Southworth, Sandy Elliott, Evelyn and Charles Jorgenson and Bob Schroeder.
