Peace at Home Family Shelter was recently awarded $349,799 from the Department of Justice’s Office on Violence Against Women to continue the Safe Housing Enterprise (SHE) Program for survivors of domestic violence for three years.
The SHE Program supports survivors of most at risk of experiencing longterm homelessness as a result of domestic violence by providing scattered site residences through private landlord housing units. Peace at Home collaborates each year with Credit Counseling of Arkansas to provide holistic, victim-centered and multidisciplinary approach to transitional housing needs in the community.
The continuation funding provided by the grant will allow Peace at Home Family Shelter to assist 30 individuals or families through housing assistance and supportive services to move survivors of domestic violence who are homeless into permanent housing. The SHE Program provides clients with a minimum of six months and up to 12 months of assistance. In addition to transitional housing, support services for the SHE Program include case management, safety planning, childcare, transportation, financial and credit counseling, support groups, legal advocacy and housing advocacy.
