Race 13.1 Half Marathon, 10K, 5K

The Race 13.1 traveling race company will revisit Little Rock on Sunday for the third time. The halfmarathon will begin at 7 a.m., and the two shorter races will begin just after at 7:15.

All three will start and finish at the Clinton Presidential Center, 1200 President Clinton Ave.

The deadline for a guaranteed event T-shirt and lower price is midnight tonight. The half-marathon costs $85; the 10K is $39; and the 5K is $29. After midnight, the halfmarathon will cost an extra $5, and each of the shorter races will cost an extra $6. Online registration will continue until race day.

Packet pickup will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Saturday at Fleet Feet Sports Easy Runner, 11525 Cantrell Road in Little Rock. A photo ID is required for packet pickup.

Registration and race-day packet pickup will be from 5:15 to 6:15 a.m. Sunday at the starting line.

Registration includes a race Tshirt (while supplies last for registrants after today); a virtual swag bag that includes discounts at restaurants and retail stores; and everyone who completes the half-marathon will receive a finishers medal. Walkers are welcome, but strollers are not allowed. All participants must be off the course by 10:30 a.m.

This writer ran Race 13.1 last year, and will run it again this year. I don’t like to use words like “exact,” but the course is extremely similar to its earlier incarnations. All three distances will be primarily flat, with a couple of small hills. Following an out-and-back style, all three distances will cross over the Clinton Presidential Park Bridge before heading up the Arkansas River Trail on the North Little Rock side to Burns Park.

Each of the three distances will be color-coded with signs indicating turnarounds for the return trip to the Clinton Presidential Center.

Runners will be chip-timed. Awards will be given to the fastest male and female athletes overall and by age group. Awards for the 5K and 10K will be announced at 9 a.m., and half-marathon awards will be presented at 10. The top three overall in the half marathon, and the top runner in the 5K and 10K will get gift cards.

The charity partner for the Little Rock race is Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Arkansas, whose mission statement, according to its website, is to provide children facing adversity with strong and enduring, professionally supported 1-to-1 relationships.

Participants who would like to donate directly to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Arkansas have that option during registration. More information is at bbbsca.org.

Live participant tracking is offered through the SpotRacer mobile app.

Registration and course maps are at race131.com.
