GENTRY 34, LINCOLN 14

Garrett Matthews’ 73-yard intercepti­on return with 1 minute, 40 seconds to go in the fourth quarter sealed Gentry’s win over Lincoln Friday.

With the win Gentry makes the playoffs out of the 4A-1 Confernece, while Lincoln has been eliminated. Both teams sported identical 2-3 conference marks coming into Friday.

With a lot of buzz surroundin­g Gentry senior quarterbac­k Jon Faulkenber­ry, who came in with 1,422 yards passing and 935 yards rushing, while Lincoln junior quarterbac­k Caleb Lloyd came in with more passing yards with 1,716 yards and 17 touchdowns against 14 intercepti­ons.

Matthews was the man of the moment and the man of the hour. He kicked field goals of 34 and 31 yards to help the Pioneers open up a 27-6 lead in the fourth quarter. Lincoln fought back sparked by Cam Brown’s 36-yard kickoff return. The Wolves marched 52 yards in 9 plays to pull within, 27-14, after Caleb Lloyd’s 3-yard touchdown run and 2-point conversion pass to Lyndon Miller at the 9:21 mark of the fourth period.

Gentry chewed up 72 yards and ran the clock down to 2:55 before coming up inches short on fourth down at the Wolves’ 9. Lincoln revved up their passing game and reached Gentry’s 29 before Matthews’ pick six.

Faulkenber­ry scored on touchdowns of 5 and 14 yards and completed a 57-yard touchdown pass to Matthews in the first half. Lincoln scored with 3 seconds remaining in the second quarter on Braden Umberson’s 22-yard pass from Lloyd. — MARK HUMPHREY

MORRILTON 42, FARMINGTON 14

MORRILTON — Jacolby Criswell threw for 196 yards and a touchdown and ran for 103 yards and 2 scores to lead Morrilton (6-3, 4-2 5A-West) over Farmington (4-5, 3-3).

Xaviar Clemons led the Devil Dogs with 12 carries for 156 yards and 2 touchdowns. Laken Dillard caught 6 passes for 104 yards and 1 touchdown.

HARRISON 40, MAUMELLE 0

Sophomore Gabe Huskey scored on three 4-yard touchdown runs as visiting Harrison (6-3, 4-2 5A-West) eased past Maumelle (4-5, 3-3).

Senior Noah Ditmanson scored the first touchdown for the Goblins, followed by two Huskey touchdowns.

Later in the first half, Ditmanson threw a 21-yard touchdown pass to senior Daniel McCormick.

Huskey scored again in the third quarter, and senior Mason Martin ran 10 yards for a touchdown in the fourth.

Huskey rushed 33 times for 154 yards.

CAC 40, BAPTIST PREP 7

Rhett James scored a rushing touchdown and had another on a 50-yard reception as host Central Arkansas Christian (1-8, 1-5 2-4A) topped Baptist Prep (0-9, 0-6) in a battle of winless teams.

Gentry Miller scored on a 70-yard intercepti­on return for the Mustangs.

CLINTON 42, YELLVILLE-SUMMIT 6

YELLVILLE — John Riley Hinchey and Sky Davidson each scored two rushing touchdowns for Clinton (9-0, 6-0 1-3A) in a victory over Yellville-Summit (3-6, 3-3).

Charlie Sowell caught 5 passes for 120 yards and 2 touchdowns for Clinton. Yellville-Summit’s Cameron Curtis had six receptions for 140 yards and scored the team’s only touchdown.

GREENWOOD 54, SHERIDAN 0

GREENWOOD — Quarterbac­k Connor Noland completed 10 of 12 passes for 193 yards and 3 touchdowns as Greenwood (9-0, 6-0 6A-West) remained unbeaten with a victory over Sheridan (0-9, 0-6).

Jackson Webb rushed four times for 85 yards and a touchdown. Kenny Wood had four carries for 49 yards and scored three touchdowns.

The Bulldogs rolled up 423 yards on offense and held the Yellowjack­ets to 91 yards.

PARAGOULD 27, BLYTHEVILL­E 12

PARAGOULD — Trent Teager ran 44 times for 190 yards and two touchdowns as Paragould (1-8, 1-5 5A-East) topped Blythevill­e (2-7, 1-5) for its first win this season.

The Rams’ Michael Dixon added 15 carries for 102 yards and a 20-yard touchdown. Christian Rodriguez scored on a 10-yard intercepti­on return in the second quarter.

EL DORADO 35, RUSSELLVIL­LE 7

RUSSELLVIL­LE — Darius Holly threw for three touchdowns and ran for two more as El Dorado (8-1, 5-1 6A-West) cruised to a victory over Russellvil­le (4-5, 3-3).

WARREN 49, HAMBURG 20

HAMBURG — Warren (8-1, 6-0 8-4A) posted a steady offensive showing in defeating Hamburg (5-4, 4-2) on the road.

Warren scored two touchdowns in each of the first three quarters and tallied its final run in the fourth, while allowing Hamburg no more than seven points in a quarter.

Warren junior Keemontrae McKnight scored touchdowns on 43- and 15-yard runs, and junior Treylon Burks added two touchdowns of his own on 8- and 2-yard runs.

Sophomore Vincent Steppes ran 12 yards for a touchdown in the fourth quarter.

FS SOUTHSIDE 52, LR CENTRAL 21

Junior Taye Gatewood had a hand in three second-quarter touchdowns for Fort Smith Southside (3-6, 2-4 7A-Central) in its road victory over Little Rock Central (2-7, 1-5).

Gatewood threw a 36-yard pass to junior Ricardo Savoy, then ran in from 1 and 3 yards for touchdowns. Savoy scored two touchdowns. The Mavericks had three defensive touchdowns in the third quarter. A 32yard fumble recovery by senior Khamron Belcher, an intercepti­on by junior Jaylin Coleman and another fumble recovery by junior Marteaz Gaston provided the scores.

Senior Bennett Weindel forced a fourth turnover in the quarter with an intercepti­on, leading to another Mavericks’ touchdown.

The Tigers scored on a 55-yard pass from senior Jacob Howard to senior Donald Richardson and a 7-yard run by junior Keylin Holloway.

LR CHRISTIAN 55, MILLS 14

With several backups playing defense because of illness, Little Rock Christian rode the passing of quarterbac­k Jackson Bowersock and the running of Ladarius Burnescq to a victory over Mills on Friday night at Warrior Field.

Little Rock Christian (8-1, 5-1 5A-Central) is headed to becoming the second seed out of the conference thanks to Pulaski Academy’s 61-29 victory over Little Rock McClellan on Friday.

Bowersock completed 12 of 29 passes for 221 yards and 5 touchdowns, while Burnes carried the ball 11 times for 128 yards and a touchdown and also caught 2 touchdown passes.

Little Rock Christian Coach Eric Cohu was concerned going into the game with five starters out because of illness.

“There was some kind of bug going [around] so we were missing five starters,” he said. “I was really glad the defense came out and played the way they did. We had some guys who hadn’t played and they did real well.”

The toughest part of the Warriors’ schedule is now behind them, having squeaked by McClellan last week 2219, lost to Pulaski Academy 86-56 two weeks prior and took down defeating Sylvan Hills in two overtimes in consecutiv­e weeks. a week before that.

“Every game we have got to treat it like every other game,” Cohu said. “We want to keep rolling as we head into the playoffs.”

PULASKI ACADEMY 61, LR MCCLELLAN 29

Senior quarterbac­k Layne Hatcher passed for 361 yards and four touchdowns to extend his state record for career passing yards and lead the Pulaski Academy Bruins to a 61-29 victory over the Little Rock McClellan Lions at Rector Field in Little Rock on Friday night.

Hatcher has now passed for 14,411 yards in four seasons with Pulaski Academy (9-0, 6-0 5A-Central).

“Layne’s record is a tribute to the past receivers, the offensive line, and the defense for getting him the ball,” Pulaski Academy Coach Kevin Kelley said. “I’m really proud of what we accomplish­ed tonight, because I consider McClellan to be one of the best teams overall in the state.”
