Construction work to close lanes overnight
SPRINGDALE — Construction work to improve Old Missouri Road in Springdale will require overnight lane closings, according to Arkansas Department of Transportation officials.
Weather permitting, crews will be doing asphalt work that will alternately close lanes on Old Wire Road between East Robinson Avenue and Randall Wobbe Lane starting Monday. Lane closings will occur nightly from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. until the project is complete in about seven weeks.
The Arkansas Highway Commission awarded a $1.8 million in August to APAC-Central of Fayetteville for the project. The project will remove and replace existing asphalt and stripe the roadway to provide a turn lane between East Mountain Road and Randall Wobbe Lane.
Traffic will be controlled by signs, flaggers and traffic cones.
In Bentonville, the widening of Interstate 49 will require lane closings on U.S. 62/Arkansas 102 through the end of the month.
Eastbound and westbound lanes of S.E. 14th Street will be alternately closed between Phyllis Street and Southeast Eagle Way to allow for pavement and overpass construction. One lane of traffic will remain open in each direction during the closures.
Weather permitting, the lane closings will occur between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. through the end of November. Traffic will be controlled using barrels and flaggers.
Construction on I-49 in Bentonville also requires daytime lane closings on Arkansas 72.
Crews will be laying asphalt pavement on Arkansas 72, which will require eastbound and westbound lanes to alternately be closed between McCollum Drive and McClain Road. One lane of traffic will be open between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m. through the end of the month.
Traffic using the I-49 entrance and exit ramps at Exit 88 may be impacted during the closings. Traffic will be controlled with traffic barrels and flaggers. The public is advised to be cautious if traveling in this work zone and are encouraged to find alternative routes to avoid the lane closings.
Construction work on I-49 in Bentonville and Rogers requires nighttime lane closings for milling operations.
Crews will be performing asphalt mill and inlay operations on I-49. Northbound and southbound lanes will be alternately closed between Exit 86 and Exit 88. Weather permitting, the closings will occur between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. through the end of November.
The last three projects are part of the transportation department’s Connecting Arkansas Program and includes widening more than three miles of I-49 to three lanes in each direction.
