Who they represent
As we watch the GOP tax “reform” boondoggle continue, some elements have been (sadly) interesting to watch, as they scramble to minimize the deficit explosion being caused by all the money they want to give to the wealthy. Failing to kill the ACA directly, they want to deny the tax deductions that we currently have for high medical expenses. Gee, thanks!
We have watched the GOP legislators from “high property tax” states successfully dig their heels in about the intended plan to cease counting property taxes for deductions. Yes, to the GOP mind, a great way of generating income is to make it more expensive for working people to own property. But no, their reps have, it appears, successfully beaten back that despicable intention.
However, the GOP plan is still ignoring the state income taxes which some states—including our own— pay. So all Arkansas citizens will feel the joy of being taxed twice on the same income. Oddly, I don’t see any of the Arkansas representatives among the people fighting against this idea, even though it hurts their constituents. Could it be that they don’t really “work” for the people of Arkansas? Silly question, I know—they have shown us, on multiple occasions, that they care far more for the Kochs and the rest of the puppet masters than mere Arkansans. We are expected to humbly line up and thank them for protecting our “religious freedom” and accept whatever that costs us.
Is that what we want? Is that what we are going to accept?
