■ John McCain, the Republican U.S. senator from Arizona undergoing treatment for brain cancer, was treated at Walter Reed Medical Center over the weekend for a minor tear in his right Achilles’ tendon that will require him to wear a walking boot until he recovers.

■ Kenneth Morrison, a scrap-metal dealer in Whiting, Ind., was charged with interstate transporta­tion of stolen property for dismantlin­g an historic railroad bridge built in 1909 over the Grand Calumet River and selling the metal for $18,000, prosecutor­s said.

■ Sean Combs, 48, the rapper and producer who has been known as “Puffy,” “Diddy” and “Puff Daddy,” said it’s risky and may come off as “corny,” when he celebrated his 48th birthday by announcing on social media he’s adopted a new nickname: “Love, a.k.a. Brother Love.”

■ Juli Briskman was fired from her job with a government contractor in Herndon, Va., for violating the firm’s “code of conduct policy” after a photo of her raising the middle finger of her left hand as President Donald Trump’s motorcade sped past was posted on social media.

■ Jennifer Janzen, a high school band director in Athens, Ala., posted on social media that thieves had made off with a truck and trailer containing $225,000 worth of equipment, her move leading to a tip that enabled sheriff’s deputies to recover the vehicles from a hotel parking lot in Birmingham the next day.

■ Keithrick Williams, 41, who drove a stolen Maserati to a movie theater in Morrow, Ga., and left it parked in the lot while he went inside to watch a movie, was arrested by sheriff’s deputies as he got in the car to leave after watching a show.

■ Craig Scott of Mandeville, La., armed himself with a pistol and blocked the street to catch several high school students who were toilet-papering neighborho­od homes in an early-morning prank, resulting in his arrest on firearms and other counts, police said.

■ Dauntarius William, 21, of Manhattan, Kan., apologized for “the pain and news” he created, but won’t face any criminal charges after admitting he put racist graffiti on his own car and parked it near Kansas State University as a Halloween prank, police said.

■ Charles Smith, 66, of Pompton Lakes, N.J., who volunteers as a holiday Santa Claus, faces drug charges after a South Hackensack police officer spotted a crack pipe next to his costume during a traffic stop.
