Tyrin Jones had 26 points and 4 steals to lead the University of Arkansas at Monticello to a 97-88 victory over Concordia St. Paul at the GAC/NSIC Challenge in Russellvil­le. Derylton Hill scored 23 points and Cobe Goosby added 21 for the Weevils.

The Arkansas State women finished 15th and the men 22nd at the NCAA South Central Regional on Friday in College Station, Texas.

UALR’s Lalang 13th at regional

Isaac Lalang placed 13th with a time of 30:19.5 in the 10K for the University of Arkansas at Little Rock at the NCAA South Central Regional on Friday in College Station, Texas.

Lalang’s time was just 2.4 seconds off his career-best time of 30:17.1 at the 2015 NCAA South Central Regional.

VOLLEYBALL UAFS sweeps to victory

Debra Rogers, Anna Demmer and Rachel Williams collected double-digit kills to lead the University of Arkansas at Fort Smith to a sweep of Southeaste­rn Oklahoma State in the regular-season finale Friday in Fort Smith. Rogers had 12 kills and Demmer and Williams had 10 apiece as the Lions won 25-19, 25-20, 25-19 to end the regular season on a seven-match winning streak.

ATHLETICS Harding names athletic director

Head men’s basketball coach Jeff Morgan will be Harding University’s new athletic director.

University President Bruce McLarty announced Friday that Morgan, who will continue coaching basketball, will add the athletic director duties starting in August. Morgan will replace Greg Harnden, who is retiring after 21 years as athletic director and 31 years at the school.
