ARKANSAS VS. LSU: HOW WE SEE IT

-

CLAY HENRY, HAWGS ILLUSTRATED Getting T. J. Hammonds more touches might seem like a logical way to attack LSU, but the Tigers are much faster than the last two defenses that he plundered. If the Hogs are to have a chance, it will require a much better defensive effort. The Hogs can’t score five touchdowns against LSU. The Tigers won’t get 40, like Texas A&M, South Carolina, Alabama and Auburn. But they won’t need 40. LSU, 35-21

DUDLEY E. DAWSON, HAWGS ILLUSTRATED It always helps Arkansas to face LSU after the Tigers face Alabama the week before. But this is not the LSU team that lost to Troy or the Razorbacks that have beaten the Tigers a few times in recent years. LSU, 31-17

MATT JONES, WHOLE HOG SPORTS Arkansas has a better record than LSU against the Sun Belt, but it’s the Tigers’ play against SEC teams that should be a concern. LSU has looked like a different team the last month and gave Alabama its most formidable test of the season. The Tigers’ line play should be the difference. LSU, 31-13

BO MATTINGLY, SPORTS TALK WITH BO Hard to imagine Arkansas stopping LSU’s running game. The Tigers are good enough with the pass to beat the Razorbacks. The only chance would be if the Hogs play above their heads and hope LSU has a letdown after getting up to play Alabama in a losing effort. LSU, 37-10

BART POHLMAN, SPORTS TALK WITH BO Arkansas just isn’t a very good football team. Knowing that, it’s hard to find a path to a win in Baton Rouge. The Tigers come off a loss to Alabama and will be ready for the Hogs. LSU, 35-14

HARRY KING, HAWGS ILLUSTRATED In the preseason, LSU winning by four was predicated on the Tigers being more talented. That sound reasoning still applies and running back DerriusGuice is averaging 5.5 yards per try. LSU, 24-14

TOMMY CRAFT, ESPN ARKANSAS The Arkansas defense continues to regress regardless of opposition, giving up 38 plus points a game with countless missed tackles. LSU has one of the best running backs in the SEC. Despite LSU’s quarterback woes, Arkansas appears outmatched. LSU, 42-24

CHIP SOUZA, NWA DEMOCRAT-GAZETTE It’s time for Austin Allen to pull off a shocker, like he did against Bentonville in his first state championship game. What’s that? We don’t know for sure he’s playing this week? OK then. LSU, 33-14
