Personal space
Where I live: Stonehenge subdivision
Occupation: Wal-Mart Team Coordinator for Coty
My favorite space is: our family room.
Why? In today’s world, it seems that families tend to gather less. I love the cozy, spacious feel of our family room, which enables our family to gather together and to create memories. My husband and I are empty-nesters, and our four children are busy with their own families, work or school responsibilities, so this room tends to get neglected until they come to visit.
The family room is the hub of the house when our kids and grandkids come over, and is our “tailgating” space during football season. When our granddaughter comes to stay with us, she loves to snuggle on the sofa and watch cartoons with her “LaLa.”
This room truly is our family’s bonding room, whether it be with the children, grandkids or our “fur-kids.” We have two Weimaraners, Dallas and Harley, who keep us on our toes. Dallas uses the family room as his play gym. He likes to leap over the couch and sprint into the kitchen, barely missing the glass console table.
I love hearing the laughter and barks resonate throughout this room. I’m blessed to have a wonderful, cozy space!
If I could make one change to improve this space, I would: I’d make the room a little bigger and add a lounge chair to relax in with a glass of wine.
