■ Dan Gluesenkam­p, executive director of the California Native Plant Society, said there are too many wild turkeys roaming urban areas of San Francisco and that he’s heard several stories about the birds, which become ornery when they perceive a threat, tearing up new cars after seeing their reflection­s.

■ Willie Lee Jordan Jr., 23, of Florida was charged with two counts of child neglect after Fort Myers police said he left a 3-monthold baby and a 3-year-old child in the backseat of a car while he was inside a strip club for what the club’s manager said was at least 30 minutes.

■ Brianna Brochu, a white former student at the University of Hartford in Connecticu­t, is set for arraignmen­t on misdemeano­r charges after, police said, she smeared bodily fluids on her black roommate’s belongings, with prosecutor­s saying they’re also considerin­g a hate crime charge. ■ Brian Houston of San Diego married Evelia Reyes, who is Mexican, at Border Field State Park in San Diego, between the doors of a steel border gate that is opened for only an hour or so every year to allow people from the U.S. and Mexico who cannot legally cross the border to visit without fear of deportatio­n.

■ Prodipta Baruah, a wildlife warden in India, said the final two elephants of a herd of about 15 were crossing train tracks near the city of Gauhati when they were hit by a passenger train and killed.

■ Eliahu Pietruszka of Kfar Saba, Israel, a 102-yearold Holocaust survivor who fled Poland at the beginning of World War II and thought his entire family had perished, met his 66-year-old nephew for the first time after a relative found a Yad Vashem memorial page filled out by one of Pietruszka’s younger brothers.

■ Sarah Watson of Newport, Vt., pleaded guilty to charges including drug possession and delinquenc­y of a minor, with police saying she and two other people used a 9-year-old girl to smuggle drugs into a state prison.

■ LaToya Cantrell, a New Orleans City Council member, won a runoff election to succeed Mitch Landrieu as mayor and will be the first woman to hold the post.

■ Divya Patel faces charges including tampering with evidence in the death of his 1-month-old child, with police saying he realized the child had died and didn’t get help, leaving with the child in his vehicle after the mother called police to report the child wasn’t breathing.
