Dangerous song sung

-

Our members of Congress are rightfully respectful of the sacrifices our veterans have made. However, they never seem to encourage ordinary citizens to make the sacrifice of paying taxes to maintain the country our veterans fought for.

Anyone who lives in a house knows you have to pay to maintain that house or it will fall down. That is what our taxes do, keep our country from falling into disrepair and chaos. We all want nice roads, and FEMA help when disasters strike. Well, taxes are how we pay for the things we want. Paying taxes shows our true love of our country.

Senators Cotton and Boozman sing an old and dangerous song, promising we can have all we want and get tax cuts too. They don’t talk about the national debt now, they want to spend big money without the backbone to ask for taxes. The national debt causes most of our tax money to be spent paying interest to banks instead of maintaining our country. Their tax cuts and spending will send our country $1.5 trillion further into debt, as our own government counts it.

I’m sure our veterans felt overwhelmed facing our deadly enemies, but they did it. The least we can do is face our tax payments with some grit, and some gratitude for our country. Boozman and Cotton, with their tax cuts, are nothing but soldiers throwing down their guns, running away, and telling us to follow them. JEANMARIE MAKO
